I was talking about it in another thread (http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=164928), but since it's more focused on another aspect, i think that this deserves his own thread.
This suggestion starts from another suggestion done by somebody in the beta period, but i want to evolve it with some more stuff.
That based on the idea to have a separate "sprint pool bar", something that drain fast sprinting, and replenish at an avarare rate. In addition to this, sprinting would still drain stamina at the current rate.
This would easyer limit the sprint in close combats (to limit "keep sprinting turning around the target and swing" tactics) without the need to rework the entire stamina system, hoping that this would help a more tactical close combat.
However, i would rename this to something like "stunt bar", and add also others things, like:
- The ability to side rolling to dodge attacks, using sprint and strafe (maybe also rolling backward). This would require and drain a fair amount of the stunt bar.
- Jump will also require and drain a fair amount of this stunt bar, limiting the Bunny Hopping Syndrome (http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=185238)
An hypothetical cut from an hypothetical patchnote that implement can be (numbers are on first tought, and can be balanced, and maybe affected by some skill level):
- Stunt pool bar added and Sprint revamped:
o Added a Stunt pool bar. This pool will drain fast while sprinting (will be fully drained in 30 seconds, slightly modified by sprint skill) and will recharge at an avarage rate (one minute to be fully replenished)
o Sprinting will still drain stamina at the current rate
o Side sprinting will perform a side roll, requiring and draining a good amount of the stunt pool bar (consuming also stamina)
o Jump will now require and drain a fair amount of the stunt pool bar (consuming also stamina at current rate)
If this works, there can be the chance to add also a mount sprinting, draining this bar, to add some timing to mount chasing.
