So what is the difference with me typing my name at the end of each post and putting some worthless picture with my name on it in the signature section?

I really do not see anything wrong with it. But others seems to find it annoying.

As that I am "fairly" new to forums I would like someone to explain to me the mystic and cryptic rules of forum signatures.

If anyone can bring forth a valid argument, other then your name is already attached to the post, then I will stop typing it out, otherwise I will be happy pissing off some vets by continuing to type my sig out each post and not using a fancy picture sig.

The main function of signatures is to be able to identify posters quickly. I just skip straight to the signatures of people I know to have worthwhile posts.

Though not everyones forumfall name is in their signature section. Sometimes it's their darkfall toon.

its just another form of expession and individualism or a way to recognise ppl as belonging to a group.

At best, its just attention whoring and trying to get people to remember you out of desperation.

One requires nothing more than a 1 time effort and the other is pretentious, obnoxious and covered by the fact that it says

<= right there

what your name is already.

Plus, signatures can be a bit more creative. Like they can have pictures and the name done in some creative font. Signing your name each time, especially when it is in the same font as the rest of your post, just shows everyone how full of himself the poster is.

So there you go, multiple valid points. Now stop because you look like a fucking idiot.
