Figured this may get better feedback here, since it may concern RPers more than the majority of guilds.
"Lore is against ARAC!"
I hear it all the time. But there are a few subtle (and some, less so) that seem to indicate otherwise. These are all quotes from the very little lore on the website:
Dwarves- "For centuries, Five Beards has enjoyed a near monopoly on trade with Ymir's Tear, but in recent years, King Sigurd has opened up the market for competition. As a result, Five Beards is looking for new markets in which to profit."
Maybe such markets would be with other races? Dwarves are known for craftsmanship. I'm sure the nearby orks and mahirim would gladly trade for them, since their craftsmanship sounds like it's still developing, especially considering some of their factions.
Mahirim: "The Circle of Neith is a mysterious group who worship the blue moon Neith, claiming that it is the source of all magic on Agon. The Circle are spellcasters who take a special interest in magical items and ancient artifacts. Uncommonly for mahirim, they are also highly interested in the history of their own race and the world in general."
I would assume that would extend to those who live in it.
Orks- "The Erodach are powerful humanoid creatures who are masters of the element of fire. They are haughty and arrogant, and are famous both for searing intelligence and cold cruelty. The origin of the Erodach is unknown (they are not natives of Agon) and their motives are veiled in shadow. They claim to be staunch allies of the Fire Dragon and the orks of Morak, but many assume that they have come to Morak for good reasons that they choose to keep hidden."
A bit harder, especially since I don't know if these are actually orks, but unless/until this is revealed, an ork can be influenced by them. As a faction, I'm sure some orks are employed by them. If it's their will to help the dwarves achieve their own racial superiority, for whatever hidden agenda they may have, so be it.
Humans- "The Auran faith dictates that all life issues forth from Auros, and that no matter how far from the light a creature has strayed, Auros will receive its life-spark after death. When killing a benighted or shadebound creature, Mercians believe they are sending it into the cleansing light of Auros."
"The Church of Malaut believe that the so-called light of Auros is a lie propagated by those who would force them into lives of pleasure-deprived austerity. Taking Malaut's chthonic whispers to heart, the members of the Church embrace excess and luxury. They seek to corrupt Mercian society from within, and their ultimate goal is to bring about the demise of the current regime."
We can even combine these two! The first one gives hint at a growth for tolerance (it does say kill, no doubt about that, but also gives redemption in death. That's one step closer to tolerance). Combine that with a church looking to corrupt the current regime? What more than bringing in orks as allies? Let orks and their slaves do the dirty work while the humans enjoy the fruits of their labor, eh?
Alfar- "The alfar feel a deep-seated hatred for all other intelligent forms of life, and it is difficult for them to enter even the most temporary of alliances with members of other races. Though not restricted from forming clans with members of other races, such endeavours are made unlikely by the loathing which alfar feel for non-alfar individuals."
Nothing more needs to be said.
Mirdain- "Mirdain prefer clans which contain mirdain, elves and humans, and alliances with any of the other races are unlikely, though not impossible."
See alfar comment.
Now, there's a lot of quotes that support the current ideals people have about single race or just race+ racial alliance guilds. I'm not arguing against that. It is supposed to be the norm. What I am point out is that lore supports the opposite as well. It seems fairly intentional as well, since I felt each race had either a faction that allowed it or an obvious line that it could occur.
The argument should be that single race/alliance race only clans are based on lore that supports it, not that lore prohibits the opposite.
