That's random video of a guy who plays with wildlife music in the background ( mostly birds I suppose ), note how much it makes game more enjoyable. And btw Devs why rivers and waterfalls don't make sound in DF ?

Well lets say that rivers and waterfalls make sound. We can even call it noise. This would make resting or harvesting near a waterfall more dangerous because you wouldn't be able to hear it. Make it a forced sound you cannot turn off (unlike ambient sounds).

So this would make terrain even more tactical. Don't screw around near a waterfall or river. Or else you could get yourself killed.

Actually an interesting idea.

Being mainly a soloer, I love this idea. It would definitely add to my enjoyment.

This would be incredibly awesome if it was implemented into the game.

Hopefully once sound get's fixed they'll get around to implementing this.

Hopefully we won't have all quit by the time they get round to it.

the sound is absolutely dire in this game  there is no imersive or directional sound at all.

why can i hear someone swimming from 20000 miles away and not some galloping mount when it is about 3 feet away :S the sound team needs firing/creating for this game. hell is it really that hard to record some waves crashing or some abient noise in a forest, or the sound of wind. i mean come on. space probably has more sound than this game :bang:

I noticed the lack of ambient sounds too... this sort of thing would really help immersion. Community sound pack anyone?

Think of it from the gankers point of view, he cant hear YOU either so he will not know your there unless he sees you.

I wouldn't mind seeing the occasional deer, squirrel, or bird that doesn't teleport, i mean, fly. The world is beautiful, but it's also very empty.

Ambient noise for waterfalls, rivers, waves, and things that are actually there make perfect sense... But please don't add sounds of animals and crickets etc. that don't exist in game if it's not an option and forced!
I think this is one of the last thing we should be pitching to AV they have a lot to clean up in the next days/months/hopefully years. Ambient sounds would surely be annoying as hell especially after many hours of playing and since they still need to fix audio options, no. It would have no real purpose, half the players probably have the tv going or music for their own ambiance. If they added dear, rabbits, etc. They'd better serve a purpose too or it would be retarded. This game isn't using the unreal engine after all, and it's not the extra eye candy that makes anyone play the game. Luckily, they have an awesome art direction which makes the graphics look much better than they actually are. I come from the South... the ugliest place in the game, and I fucking hate diet soda, I just don't drink the stuff.

Deer that only ever ran would be quite fun though! Only grouped archers/spellcasters or mounted players could kill them, so it could add hunting, give people to do with AI other than rinse, repeat. And whatever they drop (antlers for some high enchanting?) could be more valuable as they are hard to come by, and even harder to kill. Rabbits could be the same, but maybe 2, 3 hit kills and very fast.

The only thing good I see about ambient noise, is it would help cover the sounds of passerby's or would be murderers. However, if there was an option to turn off, it would not be a game mechanic and still be useless.... If it was forced on EVERYBODY, it'd work but we'd all just get annoyed with the sound all the time, lose, lose situation me thinks. On top of that, AV really needs to fix the audio issues they are already having before adding new sound. My mom bought a pad that you stick over ur chair and it vibrates (no dirty jokes plz) and you can turn different types of ambient noise on like rain, thunderstorm, birds, etc. There ya go ;)

Do you really want this? I mean, really? Check out the current sounds in-game. Do you think these sound would be enjoyable to listen to? LOL

I hope that the current sounds are meant to be place holders, and they're reworking every sound in the game. Hell, even the sound itself leaks all over your ram and causes crashes.

honestly this is one of the main reasons the world seemed to desolate initially (also because putting the vegetation up kills performance and is bad for pvp)

The sounds in DFO are a big enough performance bottleneck already. The last thing they need to do is use more of them.

Why not just lump it under the same category as footstep sounds, so that if you try to turn it off, you just fuck yourself even more? :sly:

A world without annoying little birds is not a world at all. Would you like it if they made it so you can kill said birds? God damn... people are so afraid of change that they're afraid of a post in suggestions?

The game needs wildlife that makes noises. Not just random noises. UO had it right wildlife wise....
