I admit it, I suck at melee. but I do everything right, I spam click and aim at the target, I duck, jump over them on hills and know when to go ranged.

why is it I always get destroyed in melee?

I'm in NA, I'm a mahirim and I use greatclubs if that helps...

as mahirim youre an easy target and as club user you are gimped dmg and range wise. :D

Get some melee weapon with a larger reach (pole arm or greatsword).
And learn to use vertical and horizontal slashes.

seems like the only viable option. I'm not halfway about to reroll when I'm 10 points away from mastery. I guess I'll just scream foul until they balance things...

The hitbox might be an issue for many people, bu that does not mean it breaks the game if your playing mahirim. Not at all in fact.

You really think you will perform better if you reroll? right.... its your time after all.

I didn't say I was about to reroll... and I'm not going to switch from greatclub with this much time invested. I'll try and grab an alfar guildmate and test the hitboxes for shits and giggles.

To the op: I've been playing the last two days trying out 1 handed axe, clubs, and swords, and my conclusion has been that swords (for the reach) are the most effective. Also, I just started using a two handed sword tonight, and hot damn, is it good! I highly recommend it.

After using great swords I switched to polearms and was much happier.

Polearms do the most damage and have the largest range. Their only real disadvantage is that they push people away when you are trying to chase them, as opposed to other weapons where when you get in range you can just spam into there back. It is more annoying then hindering though.

As far as meelee fighting. Mahirim sucks because you are super easy to hit. I would however recommend raising your weaponskill. I use to be the same way, winning about 50% of meelee engagments. Then I leveled my polearms to 60 in the mastery. Now when ever someone goes meelee with me they quickly die or get out of my range. So that seems to be the 'surething' way to tilt the odds in your favor during that spamfest.

1. You have a mahirim with largest hitbox (disadvantage compared to all other races)
2. You use greatclubs. While they might have nicer damage than greatswords, their reach is lower, so you actually have to be closer to the player to hit, than he is (knowing that most people use either Greatswords or polearms) (disadvantage compared to most other players).

Maybe you don't suck, maybe you really do, but with these 2 things it's hard to find out unless you fight another mahirim who uses Greatclubs. You don't have many options here:
a) stick with it and hope devs will increase the reach range of mahirims or they balance all/most melee weapons
b) switch to polearm/greatsword
c) reroll

Yeah, but you need to hope that hitboxes/reach will be fixed by the time most people have masteries :D
