Searched back several pages, and didn't see anything really like this.
I'd like to see more informative crosshairs, for our targeting. Nothing big and complicated, just let us see a couple of basic conditions.
When we have nothing equipped, make the crosshair be a faint, open circle, like a big "O".
It can be hard to tell if you have something equipped but not drawn, if you cannot see your character's hands at the moment. When we have something equipped but not drawn, make the crosshair be a solid X. Or maybe a solid X with a faint, small icon next to it similar to the equipped-and-drawn crosshairs, below.
For melee, put little arrowheads on the left-right or up-down directions of the crosshair, so we can tell which direction our swing is set to. You know, so we don't have to take a swing and find out.
For archery, have the crosshair be a vertical line crossed three times. Sort of like a capital "I" with a crossbar in the middle. Not long enough to use as a drop guide at the longest of ranges, but distinctive. Instead of the big yellow progress bar filling up, have the vertical line fill up as the bow draw continues.
Magic crosshair would be a diamond. As with the archery, a charging spell fills the diamond instead of using the big yellow progress bar.

(Did this get past moderation yet?)

On the topic of crosshairs for targeting. I would like to also suggest that we have multiple options for changing our crosshair color or maybe just make it red instead of white. White crosshairs seem to blend in with too much in this game. I'm always losing track of it. makes it more difficult when attacking from range with a lighter background.

Would be nice with different sets of crosshairs... remember that one could choose which design one wanted when flying ships in SWG, so something similar to toggle between would be nice. At least so one can change size a bit...
Otherwise, informative crosshairs are definitely a usable feature.
The more information one have about the current state of yourself, the better. (The hardest thing to do in the game should not be to draw a weapon.;))

I really don't want to wait another week for moderation, so here's me adding something else to my suggestion. I posted it as a one-off idea in another thread, but here it is too.
Add an alternate-use function to tombstones. Each alternate-use will grab one random item from the tombstone. No dragging required.
A delay is added to all transfers of items out of a tombstone. No matter what, you cannot move things faster than this (short) delay.
Therefore, there is no longer any need or benefit to autoloot macroing. People who don't want to bother dragging don't have to, but they lose the ability to pick and choose what they get.
Also: Stackable items in the same container together auto-stack when the player logs out.
Also: The persistence XML files in the game folder need to be MUCH more aggressively pruned by the game. Looking in them, it looks like I've got X and Y coordinate information for hundreds of inventory items I don't have anymore. This can't possibly be good for game performance.
Also: Stackable items in the same container together auto-stack when the player logs out.
Missing auto-stack is a feature. In UO somebody was used to fill his backpack with a lot of unstacked stones, to annoy pker :P

.
Yes. Targeting cross-hair improvements would be a very nice addition for the UI. Both for information like swing direction, type of weapon selected etc. And to be able to select different looks (shapes), and colors too.
Seems to me like a simple, and workable request.

No crossair at all would be the best.

Great idea. I had a similar thought about crosshair not being used recently.
The cursor could change, depending on what kind of equipment you had in your hand, it could change colors etc. etc.
Many FPS'es use this as well nowadays.
