Rules are simple, no insta-hits or god-moding. Also, I got someone else to judge so it would be fair, since he's not in my guild. Here we go...

The arena is oval shaped, and was built around a forest, with countless trees scattered around the arena. The sun has gone down, and the moon is gone. the floor is filled with grass, and torches line the walls, which are ten-feet high and five-feet thick. The gates are north and south, but many trees block the combatants from seeing each other. As the south gate rises, Kyron is the first to enter...

OOC: Just so no one is wondering, I'm the person whom Shadow asked to judge this fight.

--------

IC:

As victor of the first round of the Tournament, it was Sir Aerys' honor to watch and judge the third bout. In this match, the host of the tournament himself battled in the arena below. The night was black as pitch, and a thick growth of trees obstructed much of the action in the arena from the view of the spectators. The crowd seemed not to mind however, as they cheered and cried for the combatants excitedly.

Aerys reclined slightly in the great seat reserved for the judges, slouching a bit and getting himself comfortable to watch the fight. A buxom, blonde beauty sat across his lap, one arm drapped around his neck and the other holding a skin of fine wine that she brought to his lips every so often. As she nuzzled her face against his neck, the knight's attention remained fixed on the arena below, his dark eyes grim and waiting for the gladiators that would soon arrive.

Hmm...those trees give an extra dimension to this fight
Kyron stepped in the arena quietly, becoming one of the shadows. There were torches on the walls but the center part was in complete darkness. Kyron went behind a tree to his forward left and continued in that direction behind yet another tree. He went forward yet, turning a bit to his right this time, until he met yet another tree. He examined it..the lowest branch was a meter above his head.

Jorem watches from a distant point hooded with a deep sabled cloak, his body completely illuminated with an eerie glow, his face shows nothing but darkness veiled by the hood of the cloak. In his right hand is a rainstick calibrated with different symbols of his nation of tribes. If anyone looks at him, they'll only be looking at them selves, like the reflection of the moon in a lake, rippling with small tiny waves of light. His reason here is simply to watch in amusement and calculate his own desires.

As he enters, ShadowDemen walks over to the first few torches on his side and extinguishes them, so as not to show his outline in the dark. Pulling up his mask, he ponders on the best course of action. "He'll most likely use his bow" he said to himself. His right hand went underneath his armor, and he withdrew a shuriken. He approach the forest slowly, so as to sense any traps. As he advances, he thinks he hears a faint noise, but he can't tell quite what it is...

OOC: Sorry, you and atreyu both did the same strategies, and I got confused. :o Also, my armor wouldn't make a huge sound like Sir Kain's, because my armor isn't overlapping with other peices of armor.

IC: ShadowDemen stood still, afraid he had fallen in a trap. This sound, though, was strange. It almost sounded like sand falling. What's more, he couldn't trace the sound. "Oh, well", he thought to himself," I guess I'll have to flush him out." He began chanting words under his breath, and prepared to use his dark fire spell on the clump of trees in front of him. Even if he missed the theif completely, he may get the thief to come out of his hiding spot. If he did, ShadowDemen was ready...

As ShadowDemen's chant finished, a jet of purple and black unholy fire erupted from his left hand, straight towardsthe base of the trees directly south of him. He grinned to himself, knowing there was no way Kyron could stop the spell from hitting the trees, unless he himself was hit. Even though he took pleasure in setting things on fire, he couldn't help but think of what the architects he had hired would say to him, after they had spent a whole hour digging the holes for the trees. "Oh well," he thought," They'll stop complaining after I pay them."

The air got thicker and the silence deeper and as moments went by, the creeping sensation on his skin grew stronger.
The bastard is using magic!
Kyron had never had the nerves to learn magic. Nevertheless he had developed a very accurate sixth sence that told him if someone was using it...especially if someone was using magic against him. This instinct saved his life this time.
Kyron thought about all the possible spells that his opponent could throw upon him and ways to avoid them..he came down to one option.

ShadowDemen was still smileing when he saw the burst of light. His eyes burned, and he cursed violently under his breath. Stumbling backwards, he tripped on a root and fell on his back. He slowly got up, his vision returning slowly. Much to his displeasure, the thief had already moved on. He put the shuriken back under his breastplate and instead pulled out his twin swords. He continued southward, his eyes searching feverently for the thief Kyron. Suddenly, an idea popped into his head. Sheathing his swords, he concentrated on his spell. After a few seconds, he had finally built up enough energy and, with a few words, he created four copies of himself. These copies weren't solid, and appeared fuzzy at times, but he had full control over what they did. Staying still himself, he had the copies split into four directions, hoping one would find Kyron. While they searched, he waited by the tree he had recently demolished...

OOC: By the way, sorry for not being as good as a poster as Sir Kain. ;)

He felt a tingling sensation as a dagger flew through the throat of one of his copies. "He was closer than I thought." He reach into a pocket behind his left sword's sheath, and withdrew another shuriken. Hearing his opponent charge him, he flung the shuriken straight towards Kyron's right shoulder. He then proceeded to take out his own swords, and dashed towards Kyron, his left sword protecting his face while his right was readied in a stabbing position...

OOC: Just so you know, the copies are gone now, but I was too lazy to say that.

Kyron saw a throwing move..
Not knowing what was thrown at him, at what speed or where it was aimed, he had to guess.
Gods of fortune better be with me today...
Mostly to give himself some time, he threw his own daggers at the figure of his opponent. He didn

ShadowDemen quickly leapt to his right after seeing Kyron throw his daggers, and he heard a loud clunk as they hit the burned tree behind him. After regaining his balance, he threw his left sword at Kyron's feet, hoping to disrupt his balance. Then, with his remaining sword, he lunged at Kyron, with his right blade aimed towards the thief's stomach.

Kyron was indeed suprised by this unexpected move.
He jumped, or attempted to, up and backwards and ended up in a very unbalanced position as his opponent charged him. If he only had been in balance, he could have ended this fight right here, or at least gained a big advantage, because shadowdemen

The fact that the thief could put up any kind of defence somewhat surprised ShadowDemen. As the blades clashed, he did not try to prevent his sword from missing. Instead, he lifted up his left foot (as his right foot was forward right now), and use the blow to spin completely around on the tip of his right foot, while his left managed to kick up the sword he had thrown back into his left hand. He had only one thought, to prevent Kyron from ever being able to mount an offence. He again lunged, except this time he brought his right sword to his left side, and his left sword to his right, and did a horizontal slice aimed once again at Kyron's chest.

This guy has some talent...
Kyron thought as his opponent retrieved his blade. However this little delay gave Kyron enough time to pull himself together. Another attack straight away would have possibly been more effective...probably lethal.
As his opponent faced him again and attacked Kyron was ready. He grinned a bit as he saw his opponent crossing his hands for a slash.

Again, the thief's resourcefulness had surprised ShadowDemen. He fell backwards as Kyron ramned into him. As painful as the blow was, he still kept his cool. As the two hit the ground, he jamned his left leg upward to knock Kyron off. During this, he again started to chant, building his power...

OOC: So I assume you just surrounded me with darkness, right? Fair enough.

IC:ShadowDemen almost lost his concentration of the spell when his left leg met nothing and he saw Kyron's daggers next to him. Then it went dark, or at least darker. ShadowDemen knew this spell, and had to force himself from laughing out lound. Getting up, he tried to finish his spell, but he heard a small whistling sound as one dagger flew past his ear and the other cut off the latch that connected his left shoulder plate to his clothes, causing the shoulder pad to fall with a clank. Now ShadowDemen was getting angry. He had gone into this fight thinking it an easy win, since who ever heard of a theif who knew how to fight, but clearly this was not the case. Spinning 360 degrees, he threw his left sword low where the daggers came from, and then threw his right sword a little higher. Afterwards, he pulled out his longsword that was hanging on his back, and placed his left hand on his heart. Finishing the spell he had meant to use in the first place, He drew his left hand away from his heart. He immediatly felt pain, as he drew a small portion of his own soul into his left hand, and then imbued it into his sword. The sword burst into unholy flames, and again ShadowDemen lunged forward blindly...

As ShadowDemen emerged from the darkness, anger hit him as he realised that the thief wasn't there. He again heard a slight whistling sound, and realised it had to be a dagger. "How many of these things does he have?!" Turning around cumberously, he managed to catch the dagger in between his two fingers on his left had, and was dumbfounded for a moment as he looked at the dagger he barely caught. He then touched the blade to the unholy fire surrounding his longsword, and the dagger burst into flame as well. Aiming at Kyron's wound, he threw the dagger wrapped in flames. Not even caring if his opponent had a strategy, he charged with his sword lowered at his right side...

OOC: About ShadowDemen's behaviour, he still doesn't think of you as a threat. :p

ShadowDemen realised too late that he was too aggressive, as a sudden explosion erupted under his feet. All he senced was pain as he was thrown back into a nearby tree. He struggled to his feet, badly scarred and burned in several places. His sword was lodged in one of the trees branches, the unholy fire that once consumed it was gone. He slowly walked to where his swords lay, each step sent pain racing through his body. Picking up his sword, he moved towards Kyron's limp body, and saw the thief's eyes were closed. Pulling his opponent to his feet and setting him up against a tree, ShadowDemen began to chant, and a small purple flame srung out of his chest into Kyron's. He had given the thief some energy from his soul, as he did not like the fact that Kyron had basically killed himself. Walking towards the gate he had come from, he turned around towards Kyron and said, "Hopefully you won't disapoint me in your next match in the semi-finals. I forefeit this match, but you still owe me." And with that, he left the arena...
