1h sword viable?

Right, well since my char got hacked and deleted I lost my 64 skill in polearms - it's gonna be slooow to get that skill back, esspecially with the changes to skilling up with newb weapons .etc

So I'm wondering if I should just forget about polearms and simply train up 1h sword?

Has anyone here tried this?

How viable is it to just use sword/shield? Is the damage resonably decent?

Damage, sucks.

Not that you´re ment to do comparable damage anyway, but learn to block correctly and you can survive well enough. Only problem is that it´s a lot harder than bashing away and sprinting around with 2-hander.

Oh, and you really need a shield, no matter how bad shield, but it´s a must(unless you´re fighting retards/noobs ofcourse).

yeh. 1 hand plus shield is great for pvp, block if they attack you then if they try to run away you attack. Its also great for group pve but 2 hands have the advantage for solo pve.

Less than polearms, since you attack faster, but if you really want something raised quickly go daggers...they are in whole another league when it comes to skill gains (and sadly also when it comes to uselessnes, atleast with 100+ pings)

When we get a group that can move and co-ordinate well as a single entity using shield/one-hander it will be really hard to beat in close combat. When everyone in group pvp runs around like headless chickens.. well then its all the same.
