Differences In Skill

I have been unable to find or get a straight answer of the benefits of having skills high. Here is what I'm looking for, an answer or a link to a post that explains it would be great since I am incapable of finding it or using the right search query.

If Player A has 25 skill in Greatswords and another player has 100 GS and 75+ GS Mastery, what kind of damage difference are we going to see? How much on a naked player and how much on an armed player (bone armor for example maybe?)

double the damage (pretty much) but it also depends on the weapon your using as well.

At 80Greatsword and 28Greatsword mastery i hit for 24ish to the face with newbie weapon but with a r50 sword i can do in the 30s.

A guy with 100 greatsword kept hitting me for 34 to the face with a rank 40 2h sword. He is one of the people who is lucky because he has been macroing his weapon skill on afk bindstoners, which is not possible anymore.
