Thank god, EA doesn't deserve a genius like him.
EA owns half his company, so the anti midas touch will continue molesting his products.

That was EA. Will had a brilliant plan for that game. One that would have made it one of the best games to date. EA didn't like the amount of complexity and intellect put into that game.
EA raped the game we were all going to love named Spore.

Enlisting EA as an investor, Wright said, was a deliberate alternative to venture capital funding. A corporate investor can afford to be more patient and allow Wright, as he put it, to "keep things small, keep things focused on creative people," rather than having to meet financial goals and prepare for an eventual sale or initial public offering.
Sad thing is, EA is all about money > quality. Will isn't buying himself more time with anything. Unless he has an agreement that EA will keep their hands off of his games, its doomed to fail. EA has a habit of taking brilliant products and ideas and numbing them down for the masses. Which, in turn, ruins the game's potential.
Sorry, /EA RANT OFF

Well hopefully some good will come out of it. I'm expecting more Simulation games.
Complex ones that are fun and take thought, like SimLife and SimEarth. Not games so much as sandboxes or tools. Maybe even a new complex Sim City(though Cities XL seems to look awesome)
Not shit like Spore(which he had little to do with).

A new simcity would rock my fucking socks.

Maybe, just maybe, we will see the massive return of good games. EA has been a monster, devouring good game developers by the dozen. Now that Will Wright, one of the geniuses of video games, has been freed from EA, he may go on to create great games, such as actually making his original vision of Spore.

You should check CitiesXL (http://www.citiesxl.com/) out. It has a lot of potential, and online options.

He started a new company to have more freedom to work on his projects, while maintaining EA's millions backup. Seems promising to me.

Yeah, I've been following Cities XL for awhile. I can't wait to check out the online options.

Wright had little to do with the Spore that you played.
I liked how last two years or so of Spore's development consisted of cutting features that were deemed too complex for the retarded masses.

Anyone even mentioning Spore while talking about Will Wright clearly doesn't know the history of his games. Spore was a sham.
However, other Maxis games like The Sims (yes, it was fun, admit it), SimCity, SimEarth (I'd kill for a new one of these), and even SimAnt.

The only bad Sim game I'd say is Streets of Sim City, though it did have one nice feature of being able to drive around my cities from Sim City 2000.
Out of the rest...
SimEarth was fun, a lot of fun
SimLife was fun, but got boring fast.
SimIsle was just confusing usually
SimTower was bipolar, it went from insanely easy to insanely hard by managing elevators and everything effectively.
SimAnt I fucking loved. Simple, fun, and starred one of my favorite species, ants.
SimFarm was fun and challenging
SimTown was a boring kids game
Sim City was a good old classic
Sim City 2000 is the best SimCity of all time IMHO
Sim City 3000 just a bit prettier Simcity 2000 without all the depth
Sim City 4 was awesome, especially the regions and connecting cities
The Sims was fun for awhile but got boring.
The Sims 2 I'll admit was much funner then the original Sims for one reason: genetics and aging.
Any others I'm missing?
