Simple question really. Can you specialize in anything?
I mean if all the stats/skills have a cap (do they?)
Won't everyone who's played the game for a year be maxed in everything? Won't everyone look the same? and be just as powerful in everything? and be a god damn clone except for your "skill" in clicking and turning.
I'm not against this game, I'd really like a new mmo. Just installed it yesterday. So please don't consider me bombarding with anger towards this game.

I think the original poster has a point.
If everyone can eventually master everything, then the ending evolution of every character will be to have the maximum of every skill.
The question he is posing is basically, what makes the mage better at magic than the fighter?

there's something called a "soft-cap" to prevent someone maxing out everything.
basically it means, the higher level something is and the more stuff you have at a higher level, the harder that skill or any other is to raise. and also if you don't use something for a while your skill goes back down.

Not implemented in yet but it will fix things when it is.

People will be losing their uniqueness when they are raped for their armour by others with the same armour thus only a few will have good armour... Actually even I don't really understand what I said

That makes sense!
Thanks for the response gang.
Ya I was really worried about people who'd like to be a full on mage with robes and all, when a full plated jacked warrior would do just as much "magic" damage as him.

hmm..so u guys missed out the point of this game.
its better if we all have maxed skills out = equal skills in game
so that ppl who use those "pixels" better will be noticable
so its not about macroing and crap
eventually most will hit the cap so then its gonna be no more excuses for those who suck at FPS games and all they wanted is : UNIQUE - level side:)

To shansiro : please be a doctor an astonaute and a faimoust writter and a factory owner in the same time :) I wish you the best for the dutie!
if ther is no skill cap(and ther must be hard not just soft..) ,than this game will be the worst skill farmer game in al history! If ther is a skill cap it coud be the best ! And I not just meen skill cap but maybe laiter the mage can inpruve his abilites but from that point he frozen the fighting abilites (just a base example)
I dont even wana imagine that it will be an endless farming till we will be the same clones with different names.... if they dont handle it then in the future "Go back to Dark Fall!" will have a different meening then go back to WoW heeh:sly:

After reading around on the forums, apparently some people are already maxed on some skills?
Is it really that easy? the game just came out.
Are there future plans to make the cap higher? like 1000?

unless they suck at actually playing. Then having 6 different damage spells of the same type and choice between any weapon won't mean much.

Go dedicate yourself to learning every magic school and weapon and tell me how long it took. Good chance you'll be at it awhile, years.

One of the only truly disappointing things in DFO is that NOONE is unique. You can obtain all weapons all skills and all spells with no limitations whatsoever.
I was hoping the skill cap would force people to specialization but this is not the case. There is no cap and you'll run into people with full plate armor, maxed archery, maxed weapon skill and spells from every school of magic.
If this was fixed I'd have a stronger tie to this game but as it is now, there is a complete lack of any specializations whatsoever.
You wont see leather wearing archers, you wont see robe wearing mages, you wont see armored healers. You see the same hybrids everywhere you look.

With infinite gold from exploiting mobs (like *some* people)? A month of macroing every day will do it. Well, except for mastering every melee weapon, but people only need to master one or two anyway.
