Polearm skill training

Why is it slower to train up polearms than other weapons? we know it's the FOTM, but is so slow to lvl up, i dont suggest this weapon to anyone, 2 handed sword or hammer is wayyy better, hammer doing insane dmg to plate (bludgeon dmg)


Polearm = slow as hell, widest arc and best dmg, slow to skill up,
2h Sword = fastest from all 2handers, wide enough arc and fast to skill up, some people say that 2handers are the best dmg too, considering you swing faster compared to polearms. i highly suggest this weapon to casual gamers who cant spar 24\7 (poles)
2h Hammer = Best dmg versus plate wearer(suggested endgame weapon) fast to lvl up and wide enough arc for pvp.

2h axes, Cant really comment these, but what ive heard these do better damage than 2h swords.

Thats sounds pretty intense any thought on the type of armor, and decent character stat combos- like good stats to have for melee-ranged-casting

Polearms are seriously a nightmare to skill up because of the knockback mostly - I'm seriously considering switching to 2H swords for this reason.

I don't think this is accurate. I think they skill up the same it is just slower because of technical reasons but not any hard-coded rate in the skill menu. Slower swing speed, etc.

Both pole and 2hS have their benefits, so calling one "best" is relative. I personally find pole better for PvP. The wide hit arc and long ranged combined with the knockback means I'm usually hitting my opponent more than I'm getting hit if they are using 2hS, which adds up to a win.

Pole isn't a great pursuit weapon, but that's what archery is for.

The OP is a bit confused.

Polearm and greatsword level up at almost identical levels. The only pain is the knockback for polearm.

I have tested it in a fairly controlled manner and polearm and great sword level up at near identical speeds, even when corrected for swing speed. for instance, five minutes of straight swinging a polearm will give the same gains as five minutes of swinging a great sword.
