Hello.

Durable magic, the skill, seems pretty much worthless at it's actual goal. But, my question is, that is it true that the main school (Greater Magic for example) skills up faster, if you pick up Durable Greater Magic Spells? I heard this from the forums, and would like to get it confirmed before wasting that money on buying that skill.

Not that i know...but some people might be confusing durable spell skill gains and actual GM skill gains, so thats where that rumor propably started...

Hardly worthless, it gives spells like Self Heal another tic at 25 skill, maybe even more than 1 extra tic at higher skill levels.

I believe it wont help level the related magic skill though, but if it is linked to any stats, it will help increase those stats.

this is not true. heal self and other such "over time" spells gain ticks naturally as they level up. durable spells actually increases the time spells like shields, buffs/debuffs, beacon, etc stay on the target.

You are wrong. Self heal gains a tic every 33.3 skill of Heal Self.

that could be correct, I had self heal around that level when I got durable to 25.

But what's the point of Durable then...if it doesnt increase duration.

It increases the duration of some buffs and debuffs. Magic Shield for example. But these buffs aren't really any good atm, so they aren't used, thus making Durable magic spells pretty much useless.

Witchcraft and Necromancy is based on debuffs (right? Not sure, I'm Spell Chanting), so it might be okay for those schools.
