I see a lot of arguments spring up on this board based on one person's religion vs another, or one person's prefered method of government vs another and I can't help but giggle at all of it. Maybe it's an aspect of my philosophical aspect on life, maybe an aspect of my limited understanding of certain contriversial theories of physics, but I understand just how worthless we all are; the question is, do you?

We are one species among thousands, if not millions, on this planet... let's start there. One form of life among many.

We live on one planet among 8 or 9 (depending on what counts as a planet these days). So we are one form of life among many living on one planet among a few.

We live obitting one sun in a cluster of stars, making us one form of live among many living on one planet among few circling one sun of several.

Our cluster of stars exists as one cluster among thousands, if not millions, that make up our galaxy. So we are one species among many, on one planet among few, circling one sun among several, within one cluster among thousands.

Our galaxy exists in a cluster of galaxies. So we are one species among many, on one planet among few, circling one sun among several, within one cluster among thousands within one galaxy among many.

Our galaxy cluster exists among millions, if not billions, of other galaxy clusters within the universe, I'll let you fill in the previous parts.

Our universe may very well be only one variation among an infinite amount of alternate versions of our universe.

Our perception of our universe may only be 4 of 10 or more dimensions.

All the infinite possibilities of our universe may exist on a single membrane within what is called "the loaf" (look up M theory/Brane theory)

This membrane may be one of an almost infinite amount in this loaf.

This loaf might be one of an infinite amount of loafs in some sort of extradimensional space.

NOW... work that all backwards. Seeing the big picture now? Realize just how worthless we really are. We are less than dust between the cogs of a machine.

To be honest though I agree with you. Except I have a different way of approaching the reasoning of why these dumb debates are futile. We only have a certain amount of time to live on this earth, so why waste it trying to find out what the best society is or whatever? I think I'm back where I started now just like when I was born...in a sort of nihilistic state.

I think what really matters is your well-being and your future well-being. Who cares about all the insignificant details about life like religion, politics, and etc.
