If archery damage got nerfed, that's news to me. I hit some naked guy in the back for 44 damage last night. Rank 30 bow, 80 archery skill, 30 sharpshooter.

Go back to WoW, you min/maxing crybaby.
...oh wait, even in WoW the mechanics shift drastically and frequently. Go back to... um... I guess Oblivion?

In Oblivion they shift even faster. I can give my char a sword with +100 to everything, before he even finishes the tutorial, and turn of mob scaling, so he can 1-shot anything in the game.

I hope not.... If mages can 3 shot people shouldn't we be doing a little more than that?

Never seen a mage 3-shot someone. Fought a guy with 50 Fire Magic, he was hitting me for 50-ish damage in the back, when I was naked, but it's far from 3-shot, my vitality is a little low, but it's still way above 200. Some clanmates already have 260 hitpoints.

I like Min/Maxing. You plan your character, you build him. If you screw up, you start over. Anyone remember Diablo II? You build a thornadin, if you don't like, make a new char. None of this carebear jack of all trades stuff. Besides, those min/maxing games everyone hates actually offered more options for playstyles. Even in WoW, you could be affliction, demo, or destro, or affliction-destro, or afflicion-demo, or demo-destro, or affliction-demo. Lots of possible compbinations. In Darkfall right now, if you're melee, it's polearm or 2H sword. If you are ranged, it's archery. No other choice.

Yeah. I might differ when it comes to games that I've played, but I always have been, am and always will be minmaxer and I don't see anything wrong on that. I see it as just one of gamestyles. I am usually attached to my character, play it for many months if not years, and I don't want it to be littered or gimped with needles or - what's even worse - useless skills.
My minmaxing has its bounds though - IE i have chosen greatswords over polearms because I consider polearm gauche. :sly:

If they had minmax then they should also add crits. I know this game isn't anywhere close to Lineage 2, but in L2 getting crits was the best thing. You could auctually hear your guy crit and it just made you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Crits should be based off the dex which I think is the hardest to level up.
Crits would make PVP a little more exciting IMO.
What do you guys think?

BTW I reached 50 archery skill last night and I brought out my rank 50 bow. I thought that it was 10 kill = rank 10 and so on. I used about 300 arrows with the R5 and the durability went down to like 50/70. Do I not have enough bow skill to use a R5 effeciently?

I think the back hitbox damage are still the same, if you raise your skill and you see no change in front hitbox damage try in the back and you will see the difference.

From what i understand, R10 bow = 25 skill. R20 = 50 and so on until you hit 75. Then you can buy the advanced so R40 would be 75 Archery and 25 Sharpshooter, or 100 Archery.
We did some minor testing on durability of the different ranks at various skill levels in comparison to weapons rank and the numbers back this theory up. In effect, its the same skills to use the bows as to craft them in order to see the least durability hit. All of that said, you can use any bow you like, whenever you like, you just wont have it for as long.

Interesting, I heard that you have to be atleast 10 skill higher then the weapon rank. I havn't tested it.

Hah, what a load of shit. There is no increased durability loss due to not having a high enough skill. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Actually there is... also I speculate there is one for using too low a weapon too my archery is 100 and when I use some BS bow I grab out of the bank real quick rank 20 or so it will usually last maybe 200-300 shots then its done. When I use rank 50ish or higher it usually lasts for a good 2k shots or more which is a lot more than just the extra durability for the higher skill weapon.

No, the whole philosophy (successful or not) is that you rely on skill, not dice rolls.
