I currently have fire/air, and air levels at least 2-3 times faster than fire; I was curious, compared to fire and air what is the leveling like on spell chanting?

Shit slow. You can choose Adept or Hymm of Something to level it from 0. Adept levels slow as hell, but Hymm of Whatever uses 1 ash AND 1 mandrake, so it's a pain in the ass.
Once you get to 25 SC, it picks up speed a bit.

Ya hymn of swiftness is a mana expensive buff and takes the ash and sulfur which sucks. I am glad to hear it picks up at 25 though :)

I imagine Water also raises slower than Air? Can anyone confirm?
And do Earth and Air raise at the same speed?
:O
I can confirm that water raises very slowly and is also very difficult due to the primary reagent being nacre.

Hehe I am already aware of this as a water mage but wondering how it is compared to other schools as far as speed. I imagine it must be on par with fire though, because it is super slow.
I think its a little slower than fire, due to fire having very common reagents.
I know air is much faster than both though.
I just tried casting 3 water magic spells one after the other (weakening, cold shield, icicle) and it took 40 casts (80 reagents) for 0.1 gain.

Wow that is kind of upsetting.
I am planning on leveling fire magic, while using air to pvp (so buying alot of sulfur and just having few mandrake, but is that the smart thing to do?
If air levels way faster then fire, and it does just as much damage as fire even at later levels, should I be focusing on raising air instead of fire? And just using fire to pvp?

Why can't you level and pvp with the same tree?

air/earth damage dont raise that much as fire/water
if u wana see high damage and siege magic go fire
if u wana be caster/archer hybrid go air
if u wana be caster/melee hybrid go earth
if u wana be rare go water

And if you want to be really rare, go necromancy/arcane.

Really? I thought 0-25 went slow, but my GOD did 25-50 go by at a horribly slow rate. I think the thirties hurt the most.
