when i first got into the game, i didnt even kill 1 person for the first 1 or 2 days, and each time i am near a pvp battle i get BIG butterfly's in my stomach and my hands start shaking, like wen me and a clanmate were getting revenge on these 2 alfars that ganked us, in the battle i noticed, that my whole entire body was shaking, from my toes to my head
and guess wat i never would love it better, wow never gave me such a rush, it was all press 1 press 2, but with kinda skill based(naked versus armor, obivously armor would win), its such a rush
dose any one else get this, do you start shaking, or get exited, i dont really play much mmo pvp games
but so far the game is fun, havnt gotten into pvp much, been trying though
Pretend you are an ice cold vietnam veteran who knows exactly what he's doing (even if you are not). It always works out for me.

That will take longer to pass, I tend to listen to music and have food around me to stop that...while fighting!

It's called adrenalin, in time you will sucumb to its power which feeds the inner killing machine as we were meant to be.

shaking and butterflies
Adrenaline rush isn't a bad thing, once you get past the shakes (give it a few days/weeks if you just started pvping) - you'll be a lot more focused!

Happens to me aswell, especially in "prestige" PvP and warfare! What helps me is being a good sport about stuff, since I don't really like shittalking. I usually talk to all the players I PvP with, killed or gotten killed by!
With that said lol, I'm really bad at keeping a calm head in PvP!
The nervousness and rush is what makes it all fun though =)

Just get in there and start killing, once you do it a few times the butterflies go away. Unless of course you are carrying a bunch of stuff and people start chasing you, but that just adds to the fun of playing a game like this.
The hardest part of skydiving is making that first jump out of the plane, you will still be nervous but you will also remember how much fun you had before.

well i have experienced that before ... i used to have it when i played uo and me and my team were fighting outnumbered or when i was the last surviver on some cs map in a clan TF was years went by i stop having that feeling and not even in eve whit my t2 hooked by 3 guys while there drones shotted at me made me feel like that ... darkfall is the first game in a couple of years that made me feel that again the first time i got killed the first time i killed some one... the first time we ganked a small group of players after the killed some hard mob and runned away white there stuff ...
it eventually stops i guess its just the Adrenalin in my brain I'm fighting a real battle ... crazy psychology crap ... i was in the army the Portuguese army that is... so i didn't went to a war or shotted at some farmers and while growing up i hang up whit the bad crowd so i didn't get robbed or anting so yea ... games ... i suck lol

Lol i spent 2 years in a desert with people shooting at me and attempting to blow me up. Full loot can only make you so jittery after that. I do like having something to lose and something to gain every fight. It will always give you a little rush when i have something to lose.
The first time one of my buddies got looted back in the first online game we used to play (a MUD) he lost months worth of gear. He lived in the middle of the county. Right after he died he got in his car. Drove 30 min and went to a fast food place and just sat there eating for a while to calm down. It's that rush that hooked him on online games with looting.

Its called Adrenalin.
You can combat this by PvPing a lot.. Your body will get used to being in that situation.
This game is nothing compared with running away form a Bounty hunter in SWG pre CU.. With the possibility of loosing hours of hard earned xp your hart can explode while your trying to run away J
Always have an exit plan… Keep your ears pined (sound is very important in DF) and your eyes open… Stay in a group and know where the closed bank / town is. Also have your mount on your hotbar for a quick getaway..
Fill your bank with a surplus of armour weapons and mounts. (so if you loose it don’t mean much)

I have this too. I dont mind the heart racing, and beating really hard, but when the hands shake so much you can't even click on the mouse, it's just annoying. But I know, gotta PVP more...
Would be fun to monitor my heart-rate while playing :P

Yep i got nervous too, in vanguard, when i stalked people in pvp waiting for the right moment or sitting in a ambush.
excitement was a rush.
But never felt it in others games like cod4 or in paintball, martial art contest or in army training.
Just in the mmo pvp.

there arent many games that give that "rush". First time I got it was Pirates of the burning sea. The Naval combat in old frigates was a white knuckle experience. This game has it to, and the night and day aspects have a definate effect. Add to that the fact that people are getting their skills leveled up nicely and are going out looking for trouble. Raiding partys everywhere, mounted ambushers....just MOVING from one place to the other is exciting cause you never know what the hell is gonna happen. There are a TON of people downtalkin the game and they says it sucks and all that shit, but they are just haters, kids, or punks who cant handle loss. I have lost so much gear to ambushes that I think the humans have added me to their "Friends" list- LOL (I'm an Orc)...but its still fun as fuck, I dont care what those punk ass whiny bitches say about the game. They did a fuckin great job on it. Look where it's at after a month or so? It needs tweaking, of course, but it's still very well done.

For real...Port battles of 24 vs 24 in heavy line ships was ridiculous.
that was one of the few games that started out great, and the devs progressively fucked it up by listening to carebears. Literally lead PvP out into an open field and shot it twice in the head. Made it hard to come by and a rarity.

But after 2-3 kills you will get the hang of it.

Yes, its your sympathetic nervous system kicking in, shunting blood from your skins and other unvital parts into your muscles and brain, it associates the pvp as being 'real' like you are at risk yourself so pumps out adrenalin and increases blood to the organs that are going to help you 'beat' this. Over time it will go away but their will be times that you could conisder extraordinary and it will hit you. Just not like it does in most pvps now.

It's the same feeling a lot of people got the first months of Ultima Online or their PVP based games. Once you become addicted to that feeling no other MMO will suffice.

That my man is why this game is full of old UO fans, and why DF will create a world of mmorpg ad-junkies ^^ The best pvp players learn to control this part of their game - makes for better decisions in the seconds that count.
It is very important your organised in defense as well as offence, this will help reduce the pumping, and dont drink too much coffee! I have known peeps have to stop play for a few mins after alot of this in order to calm down. Faction play in UO was the nuts for it.

Thank god I started with full loot muds. The adrenaline is minimal at best but I've seen it hitting people in vent pretty hard.
I wont give names but we had a clanmate mounted and heading to a bank to drop off the hours loots and he was being chased by 3 mounted enemies. The ENTIRE run (was a good distance) was played out in our minds because of the intense heavy breathing and constant OMG play by play from the guy. We still laugh about it and this was like 2 weeks ago.
I'm about to laugh right now.
This game is the most adrenaline run I've played since my mud days and is more taxing that early UO in my opinion.
Turning a corner with a mount and running face to face with 30 enemy mounted players is one hell of an experience. Thank god mounts are crazy easy to get in this game. I had to stop naming them so I wont cry when they die. :P

This is the part that is missing in all those other games.
Ofcourse others get it :) That's what makes this game so great.
Fighting has meaning when your gear is at stake :) I haven't had these rushes since UO. :) (And perhaps a little when people threatened to burn down my Shadowbane city).

Yeah its just adrenaline rush. It's good if anything once you control it it'll make you more sharp and better at what you're doing. I've never gotten this is Darkfall yet fully but i used to get it a lot in my past MMO. Actually I do get it a little bit when chasing someone who's on a slither of life and I notice I got lots of arrows and my bow on me. :ninja:

i think before darkfall came out i was a small little wow carebear, but now that i have played a kinda hardcore pvp mmo, i am no longer a carebear, so yeh darkall has changed me

make fun all you want, you know you have it too
first time i had a good adrenalin rush from a good pvp was lineage2 you never knew who was against you and how much health or skill they had
enjoy this feelings cuz they will left u, if u play longer and especially if u got more pvp-experience. everybody had this kind of adrenaline rush, by sure. i wished i would have this again, but now: "oh, im under attack ... ok, np", "hey bro, im still behind an enemy - how was ur day btw?".
i just got a heartattack, when im logging or mining, while starring to my tv, and someone attacks me or a guildmate jumps with his mount beside me - this hitsounds will kill me one time :sly:

OP: I had that also :D. My first two days of pvp looks absolutely terrible. I wasn't able to press the buttons I wanted. So many missclicks etc. After some time it passed. You will realize that you will die and lost everything and your chances are higher if you are nervous. Soon you will have more equipment and loss won't be a problem. You will calm down and will be focused more on what you are doing.
It takes time :D.

When I get a tell that there are x number of people farming y mob (where y is some mob that drops tasty, tasty loot), I get an adrenigasm.
The fight itself is the easy bit, its the approach that gets the blood pumping - one fuck up from you or your homie could see the entire pve group spotting you and fleeing on mounts. Do it right, and all their loots are yours.
Exhilarating.

I used to get those when i played the old school MMOs but now i dont get butterflys. When i see pvp i get a little happy and tons of things start running through my head. how do i need to attack to get the most advantage. If something goes wrong what should i do whats the best way out of the area. What loot do i see on them.
Stick with the game is all i can say. Be glad that you get the shakes i play the game because its the only thing i can find that even comes close to those first MMOs where i would get the shakes. A year from now you will be pvping because you want to find soemthing to get that feeling back.

The adrenaline rush/elevated heart rate/risk taking is why i play this mmo. Its the reason I don't play other MMOs.
Sit back and enjoy the rush sometimes. If you are fumble fingered from the adrenaline surge, it will go away after some time playing and you will learn to use the chemicals streaming through your brain to focus.

this 1 time i was in an empty city and i was running up some steps. there was a window at the top of the steps, and when i looked out the window i thought i saw something and nearly shit myself, i litterly jumped out of my chair and dropped my laptop on the ground lol. it just turned out to be another building with a flag on i tho...
and this other time i was doing 2v1 i was nekkey and the 2 guys were in full armor, 1 guy was at full health, and the other guy was at 1/2 health, i chased down the first guy and managed to kill him with no problems, but when i was fighting the second guy at first he was doing alot of dmg to me and i couldnt hit him, but in the end it came down to 1 hit and i would die and 1 hit and he would die, i was scared/excited/nervus/shaking all at the same time, i took my final swing and so did he, and i managed to hit him and avoid his attack. then i quickly ganked both players, grabbed their loot and armor and ran and hid behind a rock while i rested up, it was very exciting. ive never felt that way in any other pvp game.
this thread wins the game, hands down, and should be linked to from every review article to come..

Try 12 rounds of full contact boxing or any kind of martial arts, then your entitled to have a some kind of adrenal surge. Your all fucking pathetic, you make me physically sick, with your little girl hands, "queens of the keyboard fighters".

when i first got into the game, i didnt even kill 1 person for the first 1 or 2 days, and each time i am near a pvp battle i get BIG butterfly's in my stomach and my hands start shaking, like wen me and a clanmate were getting revenge on these 2 alfars that ganked us, in the battle i noticed, that my whole entire body was shaking, from my toes to my head
and guess wat i never would love it better, wow never gave me such a rush, it was all press 1 press 2, but with kinda skill based(naked versus armor, obivously armor would win), its such a rush
dose any one else get this, do you start shaking, or get exited, i dont really play much mmo pvp games
but so far the game is fun, havnt gotten into pvp much, been trying though
Happends alot when I sneak around or carry alot of valueable stuff when people starts pvp close to me, or with me. ;o
Sometimes even when I start it.. its because the high risk every combat.
Music makes it pass for me.. naked vs naked fights never gave me that feeling, but aslong as one part had gear.. it started.
Now I only get it when I know its alot of gaining or loosing. ;o
Its a good feeling, sadly it will slowly go away.

YAh, almost died a few times for diff reasons, sports, fighting etc etc.
But the things that gets me most beating is either, hanging from high grounds (like from a 6-floored rooftop with only your hands as safety), or playing a game of some sorts..
Im the kinda guy that live myself into the game/book/movie.. so much my brain think im in there.. ;o
Thats why I playe games at all. ^^
And read boosk, and watch movies.. so. ehm.
Imagination can do alot of things that surpass the real life regular experience.

(so if you loose it don’t mean much)
that was an awesome awesome system and a very strong risk I loved being a BH pre CU SWG

I think I miss those days.
It is a great feeling from what I remember, alas, I haven't had that feeling for a good 8 or 9 years...
The anxiety and adrenaline fade after time and experience, turns into serene calm deadened nerves of steel

lol wtf is this a noob tea party?
adrenaline rush? shaking hands etc etc?
lmao how long you've been playing this? 3 days?
what a bunch of carebears, guys its a computer game. are you realy THAT serious about it?
yeah you can loose some pixels, who cares.
being able to immerse yourself and have those feelings is a skill, it makes the experience more enjoyable... of course it's easy to detach and not give anything significance, but then, what is the point of playing the game?

makes the losers feel very cool and special...

if you cant admit to feel a little adrenaline then you are the mofos that takes the game WAY TOO serious.

also someone made the point that the thought of shaking reminds me of FPS Doug
"My hands are shaking, my hands are shaking, but I'm still getting headshots, it's like BOOM HEADSHOT, BOOM HEADSHOT, BOOM HEAAAAADSHOOOOOOT!"

I started taking a beta blocker to prevent headaches (not migraines, in my case, but not all that different) awhile back. That class of drug, usually taken for hypertension or angina, blocks the effect of adrenergics like epinephrine on the sympathetic nervous system.
Result: you don't get the tachycardia and blood pressure spike that's typical with fight-or-flight hormones in high-pressure/dangerous/panic situations, although I do think adrenergics also focus concentration. Wacky uses include do-or-die events that are foreseeable like law school exams, medical board-cert exams.
When I got into DF beta and rumbled the first few times I was excited as fuck and had a great time, but I was really confused why I didn't also get the shakes/sweats/twitching I slavered after from Shadowbane. Then I remembered why (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadolol).
It was great. Laser-like focus without panic-induced mistakes or narrowed field of view (mentally speaking). I beat a lot more ass than I would have otherwise. I'm gonna start a clan where everyone has to be on anti-adrenergics. We'll own

Yea, I was mining some ore, naked ofc, then a full armored Dwarf comes out and start whacking at me, I pull out my polearm, poking him. Then suddenly He summons his mount, mount up, he had around 5% hp at this time. He starts to run, I get my staff up, mana missile, hit, drops dead. If I had missed, he would have gotten away. I got a mount, around 700g(!!) and some herbs. At this point I was shaking and yelled in skype at my friends. GG man, GG. (this happened this afternoon)

probably DF experience is like when you get that rush when you get into your first few real life physical fights, passes after a while and you are more in control, stuff like that.

yea i had it like in frist few fights and it was annoying coz i wasn't watching my bars etc just going "berserk", but after few days you realize gear is piss easy to get and your're playing yet another fps.
play some poker, risk some real money not some pixels, we'll talk about controling adreanaline rush then.
Poker doesn't do it for me - ad I have played some expensive games online and offline.
