i really want to play a lightly armoured dual-weilding :ninja: style char.is anyone playing 1 now or is it feasible? also are there thrown weps e.g knives?

Sure it is. You just need very good ping, otherwise you won't be hitting anything with knives.

Can be done. Sneak around, wait until someone is low on stam or is fighting and low on health, and nail him. Definitely viable. But if you get spotted, you're toast.

The only dual-wielding weapon in the game is knives, which includes daggers. You hold the one in your left hand in an icepick grip, the one in your right in hammer grip. Plenty of mobs drop plenty of knives. For example, Akathar (bird people) drop rank 20 and 30 daggers. So they're readily available.

Knives are arguably the worst weapon in the game to go toe to toe with. I had some success with them, when I got glued to the target and kept slicing it, most panic and try to get some distance, and while they're doing it, you hit them in the back doing more damage. But if it's an experienced fighter, with a shield or 2-handed weapon or polearm, he'll flay you a dead man walking.

There's really no stealth in the game per se, but if you always keep a tree trunk or a rock between you and your target, he won't see you. Grass doesn't count, it doesn't get drawn beyond certain distance, so you can't hide behind it. Only hills, rocks, trees and bushes will hide you. Also, turning on player shadows is a good idea, if you're trying to sneak up on someone and the sun is at your back, he'll see your shadow long before you reach him.

If you have the patience of a saint, and sheer guts, it's a fun playstyle. I suggest you also train up on bow, it is hard to tell where arrows are coming from, and it comes in handy to finish off runners.

no, only throwing weapons so far that i've heard of are battlespikes. grenade like doohickeys with a knockback.

I'm hoping that daggers and knives get buffed a little bit, and maybe that eventually you can duel wield one handed swords even :D

I plan on maybe playing with this style, the shadow ambusher that jumps out and knives people in the back ;) /back

Its somewhat viable if you have good ping, AND if you do a lot of magic. run around in robes. cast/daggers in close combat.

But you need the magic to be even somewhat viable.

Pick up earth elemental as it provides buffs to melee. And maybe water (i think that one is the one with slows??? not sure).

Otherwise, if you still like melee after hearing what weak bull**** it is, take human, dwarf, or orc and go paladin way...thats a prestige melee class whose only weakness is that he earns 50% less money than other prestige classes (if you take one, that is),
it is the strongest prestige class (obviously), but since this mmorpg is 100% based on economy unlike most others, meaning that money is everything in darkfall, that lack of money will obviously destroy you....unless you get in a clan with rich members and they constantly keep giving you a charity, which is highly unlikely, coz everyone would rather spend money on himself to make him more powerfull than throw it away to some worthless deep**** .
Unless your ingame friends are waaaaay richer than you....then it wouldnt be a problem to give you a charity...i guess... the easiest class to play with is obviously alfar, since their wisdom and intelligence got a boost, and we all know mage style is best for pve....
the problem with them is that they are against everyone, so party time and getting in a (good) clan is certainly a rarity...and youll have a hard time in defending cities and so on...

A very nice Troll ( pleaase no jokes) WIth the skills of a tempest of set ( age of conan) And some skills from Blade dancer ( lineage)

In the meanwhile i would love to have also some stealth abilities ( from wow's rogue)

It's very viable to be an assassin in this game, but you might have to redefine your stereotype of assassin. It's not so much your skills, but what you do with them which makes you an assassin.

You should have archery and a melee weapon (2h polearm or sword will probably be fine)
Hiding is easy and works great in this game, but you have to hide behind trees and not expect any hide button.
When someone is resting after fighting, start shooting arrows at him. If you're hiding, you can probably get off a couple of arrows before he even sees you. Either he will flee and you have to follow and keep on shooting, or he will attack. If he attacks just keep on shooting and melee him when he gets close.
You can also simply jump him with melee while his resting.

However, this is basically just the same as being a warrior, except that you attack people when they are weak and try to hide while they are strong, but that is basically what every solo-PK-warrior would do too. So in other words, assassin = solo-PK-warrior

This is one of the best MMOs to play a stealther in that I've ever played. I'm not playing an assassin per se but I've snuck up on a TON of people.

bows will be your friend as an assassin if you plan to use daggers. It is very viable because of how easy it is to sneak up on people in this game. Get in close, swing the daggers like crazy and chase them with a bow.

Chasing with the daggers is difficult unless you have a good ping and i why I recommend using a bow.

No one knows.

They had a skill box labeled "Stealth"
But later on removed it from the skills listings ingame.
No one was able to actually see what stealth skills their were because we couldnt expand the listing.

But the good news is they at least have something planned for stealth and hopefully it will be added soon.

Actually all you need is a good mouse. I hit people with knife knock back and then bow them, then repeat with my 120-150 ping all day long.
