View Full Version : Jumping over Mana Missile

Lately, as in this weekend, I have begun to notice a new trend... People are jumping over my mana missile.
I think to myself, well this seems valid, I'm aiming at the ground around their feet so I don't need a direct hit, yet, they are jumping out of range of the AoE, but surely... they will run out of stamina after jumping every mana missile, right?
I really don't understand this technique, it works because I was missing more than I usually would, but... why jump, instead of turn sharply and dodge the slow moving missile?
Anyway, all of this can be alleviated by using a bow, or faster moving spell - my main question is, has anyone else noticed this from the people they are ganking?

If you can't dodge a mana missile you should reroll another game.

Well, at least it's better than "First (http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=166951&p=3112527)"

If you zigzag you'll never shake off your pursuers.

Jumping takes more stamina then varying your movements to avoid MM, so it's just stupid.
The only time you run from someone trying to take you down with MM(Hah!) is if your severely hurt already, I mean, even level 50-75 MM still sucks.

lol only noobz aim at the ground, i usualy hit people by getting the mana missle into their vector. They dodge alot of the time but i make it hard enough for 'em.
Hitting them in mid air while they r jumping must be even more challenging i hope i meet someone like that sometime xD

keep throwing it at their fet, let them jump. Jumping takes away sooo much stamina. Not even worth it.

I jump ppl's mana missiles all the time. I don't lose time having to zig zag. I don't lose line of sight with my bow/staff. I have plenty of stamina pots/food/resin for mana to stamina so the stamina isn't really needed for me. It is a great tactic but needs to be used in moderation to avoid burning your stamina.
While on the jumping topic, I like running at melee and jumping over their head then shooting them in the back for extra damage.
Keep thinking that jump is worthless and there will always be ppl out there who use every ability in their repertoire and they will beat you because of it. Don't limit your tactics based on one idea. Keep your options open and think quick on the fly. There is a use for everything in the game. Even tombstones have in battle uses. I duck behind tombstones sometimes to block mob arrows. Then pop up, shoot, and duck back down. Until the mob is close enough to melee.

Hold your MM, wait for them to jump, now shoot where they will land.
Problem solved.

jumping doesn't require that much stamina lol...
its 5.something stamina to jump, almost twice as much as a weapon swing (polearm)
you can also vary with jumping/zigzagging, and crouching to fool them.
