Or I am going to ragequit when I hit 75 Water Elemental and find out that it isn't.

Does INT really have a large effect on spell damage? Mana pool?

:O

Yes, Int does have effect on spell damage and mana pool (1int=2mana + 1wis=1mana)

The effect won't be groundbreaking though (on damage)

Uhh... if you just lay off the water and switch, it'll be like you never really did it in the first place because your water skill will eventually drop with disuse. It's not like you need to make another one.

Plus, I think a lot of mana would be helpful, a lot of people are always worried about running out. It would be like a lot of stamina, it could maybe make the difference.

Honestly I don't think your gimped cause you don't have fire. You still have aoe's and bolts, fire does slightly more dmg but you will have the stam dmg as well. The int buff will def benefit you more than the fire quickness buff. I would take air if you have water as it seems like it'd fit your setup more than earth, since your gonna be ranged most the time neways. THen you can knockback ppl with air spells, arrow buff for archers, draining stam whole time with water spells, and lightning for ppl in plate. The main dif is you wont have a shitton of aoes you get with fire, but between tornado, thunderstorm, ice storm, toxic rain you still have 4 good ones there. Fires biggest benefit will be in large scale battles I think, you'd prob be better off with air/water in most situations anyways.

Nah I guess Water is fine. Will hold out hope that once I'm high ranked the INT buff will be good.

Do we really know that skill decay is in game especially at such a low level of skill? I thought we weren't really sure yet.

Keep in mind Int is just one of many things that stack to increase your spell damage.

That is how all damage in this game is calculated.

You have Intelligence, Staff Strength, Spell Skill level, Spell School Damage Increase skill levels (75+), Synergy Skills such as the 75 INT requirement one that increases damage for all spells.

If any of those made a major impact on their own, then a character that had all of them high would be unstoppable. As it is, everything just gets stronger gradually =).

I havent noticed any difference with MM.
I started with 20 int, now I have 35.
MY LM is 100, MM is 99, the LM skills 70-45.

I still hit myself for around 10ish

You forgot staff rank affects power/damage too.

Indeed, you have probably high Rigor and Fortitude at this point.

Also few questions:
1) how Mama Missile changes at 75 and 100 levels (in visuals, effect)?
2) do you have Heal Self on 99+? Does it get 6th tick? How much does it heal?
3) does Intensify Spells Lesser Magic skill improve also effects of non-damaging spells (like IE Launch or Heal Self)?

Mana Missile gets another ring at 75. A one time power shot at 100.

So it has three at 75+? Cool! :)

No, it still shows the effect of the level 50 one, it's just a lot brighter.

Your staff will limit the damage of your spells. I masterd LM in beta and I never got over 14 with a Mana Missile using the Dawnstaff. I did, however, get over 20 at about lvl 50 MM using a looted Darkstaff, which was a R60 staff with no attributes.

Thank you for this info.

Another reason why water mages should ragequit:

If "endgame" combat is all mounted combat then will Water's increased stamina damage ever be a factor? :(

The only thing a mount is better for is running away or large scale combat. One on one they are easy to kill when you are on foot, if you know what you are doing.

I wasn't aware that you had "increased stamina damage", but damaging someone's stamina is more effective when they're on a mount, not less... If you run out of stam on a mount in combat, you're basically forced to spend 20 seconds hopping off, drawing a staff, casting mana to stam, and then, most likely, trying to hop back on... If you happen to not have any resin, unless you're in a reasonably large group, you're probably going to both die and lose the mount to someone.
