So, Im wondering, whats the best armor at the moment?
I'd say full plate, but I've heard there are a few other very rare sets out there, but I'm not for sure.
Anybody?

Armorsmiths can make Dragon Armor and Infernal Armor aswell. Which are very, very expensive and need various rare items.
As far as i'm aware you can't get these armors any other way.

I would assume that armour from extremely difficult dungeons such as the one in the center of the map, however my friend found a dungeon called Fire Halls around the dwarf area, there is probably good loot there.

Is stuff such as studded leather and bone completely useless for everything other than casters?
For instance lets say i want to play a scout, light armoured favoring a bow, and obviously a melee wep for tricky situations, would it be pointless to get studded leather, would i be better just getting a set of banded?

Apparently from the top ranked chest you can get enchanted dragon and infernal armor, not really surprising, and i imagine it would be totally insane if all over one melee person.
It is however made by people with 100 armor smithing and 100 smithing mastery, so you know, it's going to be hard to craft, let alone to get the materials to craft it.
If it wasn't soo damn expensive atm, I'd much prefer studded leather/leather armor set.
But I guess mounted with fullplate is your best option atm, especialy since the archery damage reduction is a joke.

How much are you selling for?
Would you be willing to post screenshots of the armor, so we can see the stats, etc?
Or even better, screenshots of you wearing some... I really want to see what bone armor looks like in this game.

As a scout, you don't want armour with a shiney finish.
Having outline breaking, dull, background merging studded armour will save you from more damage than full plate ever will ;)

To break it down, if your a caster, or at least while your casting the choice is obvious a robe of some sort and anything more will slow your speed and reduce damage, while using bows leather studded and bone armor are suitable as they will not slow down your arrow notching, leather has the added bonus of beign harder to see when it's dark in many places, whereas bone offers a small amount this on the snow of my home Carebear Island, if your going into melee it's better to wear banded and above.
So there's not a "best" armor set, it's a matter of what the situation requires.

Unless you have a robe over the top to kill the glare and blend into the environment better

Studded leather and bone are also completely useless to casters.
How so?
In a mix of bone/studded/chain I have ~18 magic encumb with ~26 armored casting. If I cast unburden, I'm at 0. Sounds like a useful set of armor to me.

Plate + Unburden ftw.
TheDor

Plate + Unburden ftw.
Wearing plate armor + BK boots and gloves is 81.3 encumberance. Unburden knocks off 22 encumberance, and armored casting will knock off another 10-20. That leaves you with an encumberance around 50, which basically rapes your spells.

I would say scale is the best value atm.
Plate is terrible, it's not even a full set. Full plate is just too expensive for the majority of players right now. Plus with most people's attributes in the 30s and 40s, they aren't really getting the value from the stuff higher than scale imo.

thanks.Haven't seen a single piece of it yet. No idea.
what does Encumbranece mean?"Total encumbrance of all armor worn. Directly affects Melee, Magic and Archery penalties."
It basically acts as a reduction to damage/effectiveness. Not sure if it works as a straight percentage reduction, or if the formula is more complicated than that.

Infernal helm has 10 encumberence.
TheDor

Infernal helm has 10 encumberence.
In that case:
Cuirass: ~40 (Approximate, chest pieces are between 3.8x and 4.2x more encumberance than any other piece)
Helmet: 10
Leggings: 8
Elbow Guards: 10
Girdle: 10
Greaves: 10
Spaulders: 10
Vambraces: 10
Gloves: 10
Boots: 10
Total: ~128 encumbrance.
(Mind sharing the resists on the helm while you're at it?:D)

I don't know about casters but I know that for scouts or assassin type players who prefer knifes that leather armor adds a bonus to knife damage, we've tested it in my clan and found that a knife will do more damage if the user has leather armor then in heavy armor.

We Have some infernal pieces, not a full suit, but nearly. The stats are only different by mere points. I'm guessing crafted infernal is going to blow it away. It's only slightly better than Fullplate.

Infernal armour counts as a heavy armour. Does Dragon Armour count as light armour? If not...which is the master tailoring recipes and what kind of armour do they give?

Infernal armour <- GANK me i have expensive armour on. ( need to be in a large raiding group all the time to ware this)
Dragon scale <- Same as infernal armour
Scale armor <- May aswell walk around with a giant sign above your head saying IM OVER HERE !!! KILL ME!!! The suit is so bright...
Id say Banded and plate mix is the best value for protection ATM, its easy to come by and offers good protection.

Well, in terms of defense I would assume it's either Infernal or Dragon. When it comes to priceworthy though, I would say banded.
I know that beastman usually drop the plate chest. Anyone know any other mobs who drop the rest of the plate set ? Or any full plate stuff?
