Guys,

After detailed research on the forums and reading boards I came to conclusion that I permanently screwed my character. Here is what I did:
• Trained 1h axes to 33
• Trained 2h axes to 17
• Trained 2h swords to 22
• Trained pole-arms to 27
• Trained maces to 22

I think I used up all my soft cap. melee weapon skills training points without maximizing 1 weapon. I will be re-creating my character tonight.

ehh what ? not really i have at least 700 skill point in lesser magic alone , and at least another 600 skillup in the magical tree , not uncluding every profession up to 50 and gathering in the 70 range.... don't worry about your softcap especially if you only "spent" 100 point in crap thing you will never use again.

Can you explain?

What do you mean your soft cap? I thought the soft cap was 75 for EACH weapon, not like 75 or 100 TOTAL??

Mark me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there is ever any reason to re-roll unless you want to change your race/what your character looks like.

Can someone try to explain what he's talking about in detail?

Agreed, I didn't think there was a way to screw up characters in this game.

You haven't reached the soft cap by a long shot. You can get EVERY skill up to 75, the soft cap is only affected by skills higher than 75.

This is the first time I've heard this.

What makes you think this is the case?

yeah im a bit confused also
so what im hearing is now u can get every melee weapon skill up to 75 but only a certain number to 100, is this correct?

Ehhhh what? If you reach the softcap, won't your others skills go down? Just like in UO. I hope so!

i dont think theirs any real evidence of the soft cap, ppl have just been useing logic:

their are no skills that require more then 75 so if you rank your bow up to 75 to get those skills soft cap wont bring it below 75 (the required number for all those skills if you chose to buy them) when you grind up your 2hand afterwards and dont use bow as much.

Supposedly if you don't keep using your skills they will decay anyways so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
