Well, after not managing to get into the game, I have a few questions about specific spells.
Confusion - What is this spell really like? Is it worth it?
Begone - How much does it push people back?
Shrapnel - How does this spell compensate for the fact that it is affected by gravity?
Telekinesis - What exactly does this do?
Can anyone answer these, or give reasons why they can't be answered?

i believe confusion is like a flashbang (not positive about this)
telekinesis makes you and anyone kinda near you float up on this kind of cloud of white, i guess height is dependant on skill

No player has these spells yet with the exception of Telekinesis.
Telekinesis will cause you to float a little but is fairly useless. It is also a HUGE grind to get all the spells you mentioned =P
I've seen begone used by a dev and I've seen mobs use the confusion spell. Both seem fairly useful in fights and I definitely will use them regularly once I have them.

Doesn't sound too hard seeing as people are busy working their way through elemental.

You only need to get up to 50 greater magic in order to start on the elemental schools (which is fairly easy). Keep in mind that at the higher levels it gets harder and harder to raise. At ~90 GM you would be looking at about 50-75 reags to gain .1 (and that's not counting the time it takes to cast all those spells)
To put this in perspective, it took about a week before the most ambitious no-life-players to hit 50 Greater Magic. However, reaching this milestone isn't even a fourth of the work involved in attaining 100 GM. That's a minimum of 4 weeks (and almost all their resources during that time) for the players who have no other commitments in life... That's a pretty large grind.

Meanwhile I'm having loads of fun casting spells at actual targets, and I don't care if 100 GM is four months away. :)
