I wonder how many poeple wont get further than the topic line? The reality is that Ping does have a substantial effect in combat because of the nature of the game. Its not so much shooting that is the problem but the fact that people zip all over the place and sometimes hittign them is little more than sheer luck. If you have low ping, people litterally pop all around you before the game can render them. The problem results from sprint strafing and jumping. Although strafing is a good way to avoid a blow, it turns the game into a chaotic mess where its hard to have any more strategy than speed clicking and running around. There are some concrete things that can be done to improve this.

Tripple the stamina consumption of jumping. Stand in your living room and jump 15 times as high as you can in the air and see the effect it has on you.
Strafe sprinting should consume twice as much stamina as sprinting. Again try running sideways vs straight ahead.
Introduce a dodge skill for dodging left, right and back. Use Q for left E for right and X for back. (Remap Gank to something else) The dodge would consume the same stamina as jump and would do a small jump in the direction indicated. These skills would not work on a mount. Introduce a skill that reduces dodge stamina consumption to a final level of about 1/3 jump consumption.
Increase the range reach of all weapons by 15%.
Further increase therange of knives, great clubs, great axes and axes to be useful in pvp.
Change parry to reduce stamina consumption while parrying to half of what it is now and futher reduction to near 0 at skill 100, You cant do anything else when parrying so this shouldnt be an issue.

Or they could implement netcode that if a hit registers on the client, it will register on the server within a specific ping limit to prevent abuse.

I vote for them fixing the code more or just bringing up a NA server. Right now im west coast Canada and i have a ping around 218-250 on average. And i can totaly see when im fighting some euro trash player. They just jump around in melee and hit me twice as much. But then again thats the price for playing on a euro server :o

Ping does suck I ping about 200 on average but in big battles I ping about 4k though my record has been 16k.

Believe me the ppl in Europe wants the NA server 10 times more than you do so we can get a break from al the crying in race chat (atleast from the Americans)

“Ohh Obama lied to us he was going to make smoking pot legal QQ”

“We have the power everybody must listen to us” <--Yea right as we give a fuck about your broken country

“USA USA USA FTTTW” <--…LOL?

I can go on forever but most ppl in game have already experienced this first hand at least if they play Alfar…

Whine whine whine

It's OK that no one cares about your pissant little country, you don't have to tie your own self-worth to that. Though, if you felt like making a change, you could always have your nation do something of merit.

...Stand in your living room and jump 15 times as high as you can in the air and see the effect it has on you...Again try running sideways vs straight ahead...

Yeah, a bunch of 14 year old computer nerds probably do have a lot of trouble jumping up and down, despite the best efforts of their inhalers and techniques learned from anime. Mythical heroes - I would hope - would have an easier time.

It's not that way for everyone.

It's not that way for everyone.

There is no question that it is difficult or not.
The point is that the melee combat should be more realistic . This is just suggestions and not nagging about that atm pvp is difficult.

once the NA servers are up then we can make a decision, I think things will be fine.

For god’s sake we don’t want you Americans to jump up and down!!! Given the combined amount of weight you would add up to it’s bound to spawn earthquakes on the entire planet!!! And that’s if the planet stay in orbit even!!!

Yep, West Coast Canada here, pings between 170-220 normally. I can play the game no problem but when it comes to pvp the ping make a big difference. Hope they do the NA server soon.

Decent post, but has little do do with ping :) The problem as I see it is your wrong about low ping, its high ping that causes this. Your clinet take care of your movement, not the server. The client merely reports to the server where you are, if you or the person viewing you has high ping, there will be pop in movement. This is a result of the server missing information and the update on where you are is very different from where you were. If there is low ping then the updates are frequent and you move correctly, if high ping you pop more.

By the way- there is not "strafe sprinting". When you strafe you move at normal run speed.

You are referring to turning quickly but still heading forward. You know why people do that? Because they cant sprint while strafing.

I fell off my chair repeatedly while reading this.

More stamina drain for jumping, are you serious? It's already mostly useless in combat because of the huge stamina drain.

There is no strafe sprinting.

A dodge skill really isn't necessary, and unless it's a huge leap chances are it will be useless. Strafing is also useless, you know.

Knives shouldn't have much range.

LOL @ PARRY. It's already an incredibly powerful skill for shield users, if you lower the stamina drain or even make it close to 0 it'll be unstoppable.

Ping does suck I ping about 200 on average but in big battles I ping about 4k though my record has been 16k.

yesterday I got engaged by 2 alfars and pinged at 80K ( I am usually at 140-200) I just didn t bother went to the kitchen made a tea and waited for it to be ready :\

I don t think increasing the stamina cost will change anything really..
I hope the NA server will be a reality soon
