The following is what skills I know of that increases which stat as it levels. (which is not many)
Swimming - Quickness
Archery - Dex
Swords - Str
2h Sword - Str
Mining - Str
Anyone know any others? I am mainly after how to increase Dex.
Also does anyone know what the stat cap is? is it 100 for a stat? or something lower?

Mining and logging increase both strength and vitality.

On another note, swimming also increases strength and vitality, and I think so does crouching.

so harvesting herbs does not increase int?
then there probably is not a single harvest skill increasing Int?

Sadly, the only way to increase Dexterity is by shooting arrows. Kinda lame when it's so easy to lvl str. :(

List is incomplete and basically wrong. Most skills level 2-3 stats.
How do you find out what raises what?
Open Clicky UI, Close Playerstats if you have them open.
Open Playerstats, notice all stats are in the same yellowish color.
Close Clicky UI, Use skill you want to check (stand still, else you level Run)
Open Clicky UI, the stats that have been affected by your skilltraining are "highlighted" and more whiteish on the playerstats window now.
Reset colors by closing and opening playerstats.
Mining and Logging both increase Str, Vit, Wis for example.
Easy as Pie.

Stats.
Could someone point me to a post that has all the stats and what they do for the character?
Like a FAQ, or sticky, or just plain out tell me for all of them.
Thanks.

Both at 100 now, and not even a 0.1 increase in any stat.

daggers increase dex also right?
Negative.
Raised dagger skill from 1.0 to 30.0 in a night, gained str/vit/quickness. No dex.
Swiming - quick, str, vit
Riding - quick
sprint - quick
melee weapons - str (vit?)
mining/log - str, vit (wis? )
fishing, herb and stuff - wis
taking hits - vit?
magic- int
bows -dex
That's what I know for now.

Mining/Logging: Str+Vit+Wis
Smelting/Smithing(armor+weapon): Str+Vit+Wis
My guess is woodcutting also increase Str+Vit+Wis, but I can't be 100% sure on that one. The others above definitely do, though.

Question for 1 million dollars: what is the stat cap in this game? 100? Do all races have same stat cap for all stats or are these different and proportional to racial starting stats (in which case we would finally see Alfar being nerfed a little bit!)...

Nobody has come anywhere near the statcap yet to be able to answer this.
You *should* be able to get over 75 in any stat though, seeing as how several magery skills require 75 int.

It seems that while both mining and logging increase strength, vitality, and wisdom, they do so differently.
I believe mining increases vitality more than strength, where logging does the opposite.

Went from 1.0 dagger to 28.4 dagger doing nothing else (except for rest and gank).
Gained 0.5 Str, 0.3 Vit, 0.1 Quick
Planning on doing something similar with axes and maces.
It would be nice if someone with 1.0 archery could do the same.
I'd also be curious of the gains from 1.0 lesser magic. It seems like the only thing I've gained with LM is mostly Int, with a very small amount of vit and wis gains (Those might have been from rigor gains though, as I am shooting myself).

I am wondering if there will be stat decay along with skill decay (which is linked to the stat, like logging<->str,vit.wis)

I noticed this as well. When I started mining to raise armorcrafting, my str and vit were at about a point difference, with vit the lower of the two. After about a week of grinding metal nodes, both had progressed a good deal, but my vit had shot up to almost 2 points above my str.

Do you continue to gain stats once hitting 100 skill?

I'd also like to know what the stat cap is, and what the max stat pts that are available. It seems so easy to raise some of these stats that you may not even want depending on your character build.

I can tell you that there is a skill available from a clan city merchant that requires a high level of two different crafting skills (90 for both), that raises the maximum value of Wisdom.
I know because I viewed the skill on the merchant. Not going to say more though, sorry.

Yes, from my understanding - people with capped mining/logging are still gaining stats from the skills, but they think it's at a slower rate.

Expensive way to increase DEX
Shoot the LM 100 spell Blast at your feet.
The spell itself lowers you DEX but I tried about 10 casts and so far got +.3 in DEX
$ but it does go up.
To bad the spell needs to be fixed to be useful. However if you lvl it and they do fix it, it will be one awesome spell against casters and archers... it really lowers your damage output. It just needs to last longer then 3seconds to be worth casting. Oh, and it does bleed DOT damage of 4 ticks (at rank 12 so far) of 1.75 each tick... useless.

umm.. I just did that stat check and when I sprint, my dex turns white, but after two days of sprinting, I don't see any changes to my dex. maybe over time it will go up by .1?

In the most recent patch they added dex buff to sprint. However, I don't believe it is significant.

Open the window with your stats (str, vit, ..., wis). With it open go out of UI mode, so you can do whatever skill you want to test. Use that skill >> open UI mode >> the affected stats will be little bit lighter color. To test another skill just reopen the stats window (all stats will be same color).

It's also increased through alchemy. But the rate of gain is like trying to gain all your dex by sprinting.

I have not bothered looking in a couple weeks, but when I first started cooking I wrote down all my stats, to see which ones go up with cooking.
Both WIS and INT went up during that cooking session, more wis then int though. It was 37 minute cooking session and got .2 int.

I'm pretty sure stat gains from swimming are way down now. I didn't gain that much at all compared to before the patch, which still wasn't THAT much. I don't know, anybody else notice this?

yes, stat gain for swimming is way down. less than 0.1 quickness for 1 hour of swimming. even less for other stats.

Did they decrease stat gains from farming? I went from lvl 30 to 42 in Mining today and only gained .2str and .1vit... Is that normal?
TheDor

Farming took a huge dive in stat gains. Herb Gathering and Fishing ONLY increase wisdom now, and the gains are much smaller then they used to be. Logging and mining still increase str, vit and wis, but the gains are much lower as well.

yes, this is the method that has been explained before, some stats you will find go up faster than others, they do not equally raise the same. so do not dismiss the fact that other attributes are effected just because some raise faster than others.

Best way for Quickness, Riding.
I have actually 57 Quickness (25min = 0.1 quickness).
