NOTE: before I start, these are a compendium of all the things I think need working on, if anyone has any constructive criticism or something to add to the list please post so.
Additionally the following are not in order of priority they are simply written as I thought of them, I’m sure many of you will agree with many of the topics on this list. Aventurine I hope you read this.
1. diversify the levels at which new skills/spells can be acquired instead of 25, 50, and 75 make it every 10-15 levels, this will add a greater sense of player progression and minimise boredom.
2. make it so that Archery and magic need to hit a target to gain experience.
To me this is disgustingly obvious and the currant system is a blatant invite to macroers, it will also make the game more fun and immersive and seem like less of a chore.
3. To balance the above suggestion multiply the "exp" gained from magic and archery as to blance the fact you would now need to hit an enemy.
4. increase fall damage to prevent people falling unreasonably far distances to both escape from other players or just to take shortcuts.
5. increase the damage taken from lava and acid pools, there is no point in them bar aesthetics if the effects are so minimal people would rather swim through lava than run around it and this just isn’t right.
6. increase the amount of skills available for melee weapons, and diversify the skills between the different weapons types.
7. further increase the speed at which blocking takes affect and the time it takes to stop blocking, this along with adding more skills will make melee far more interesting.
8. this problem is, as far as i have seen limited to mobs, it is almost impossible to dodge out of the way of mobs attacks, even if you ARE quite obviously out of their range their attacks still manage to land, addressing this issue would make PvE more interesting.(this may be due to sync issues or lag on my part, though this is unlikely)
9. greatly increase the number of random creature spawns between the already present "mob" spawns, this will increase the immersion level in the world and make longer travels more interesting, NOTE: by this i am not referring to mob spawns, simply creatures such as bears, dear, wolves etc.
10. increase slightly the mob spawn rate on SOME of the mob spawns surrounding cities, this would allow player who are on during prime time hours to have a chance whilst also allowing player playing during off peak hours to PvE without being killed from the swamping number of mobs who all attack one person.
11. Add more NPC's to cities, this will prevent many less populated cities from appearing "dead", NOTE: these NPC's need to be functional but are simply to add immersion to the world.
12. Fully implement the weather system, this is a major feature of the game that it seems has not yet been implemented.
13. Add the new "non-place holder" world map. It is almost impossible to see anything on the currant map with party player names annotations and quest markers all located on a small unzoomable map.
14. Implement varying types of wood/arrows. It seems many other aspects of the game have been split into varying types eg metal and melee weapons and bows. Please add differing species of wood from different trees along with different types of arrows. This is of course not a high priority addition.
15. The next suggestion is simply a notion brought up from my own experiences in the game. The World of Agon is huge, which is amazing however as we all know, dying in a place far from your bnd point can be a major pain. I propose a system which could not be easily abused and will not retract from the game play experience, Allow players, when they die, to either revive at their bind point OR the nearest chaos stone. This would still penalize players for dying and still provide all the advantages of the currant system whilst minimizing player annoyance/boredom in having to trek all the way back to where they were.
16. Add some visual way of telling how many resources are left on any single node, this prevent players from having to dismount and pack up their mount, only to realise that giant tree is actual "empty" of wood.
17. Prevent players bags/banks/backpack from jumbling every time they relog into the game, this can be extremely frustrating when a player has all of their inventory carefully organised and then it is all ruined, again not a high priority, but still it would be nice.
18. Decrease the amount of weight players can carry in their backpack.
Many players will disagree with this, and i will take the time to explain what i mean, in the currant system player can carry an EXTREME amount of items in their packs, i suggest a decrease in this amount, now the decrease should not be major just enough to make the fact that there IS a limit not a negligible feature. I agree with what Aventurine has done in making the limit high to minimise the boredom of trekking back and forth to banks but still i believe this limit should be lower.
19. My next point is one many people agree with but may or may not be viable in a game, please make items in banks local and money universal.
This will add a sense of realism, however it is my opinion that there should still be a way of having items transported from other banks for a small cost.
20. there should be docks and ship building yards available in places like some NPC's usable by all player for a large fee.
21. Increase the white clipping plane distance for players whose computers can cope with it. PLEASE
22. Add the ability to smelt or salvage items down into their respective crafting components, of course with some draw back for balance
I take no credit for this idea, the details of it can be found here http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=164625
23. Please begin releasing patch notes to the community again
24. Please work on opening up another server whether it be NA or EU and please reduce Queue times, (I know these things are already hot topics and work on them is commenced, I just thought I’d add them for completeness sake)
25. Add an option in vendors to buy many of an item without having to click continuously.
Again I take no credit for this idea, the posting can be found at; http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=164609
26. Please add closable doors/gates for player cities and hamlets. Obviously certain rules/balance issues could arise with this, but it needs to be implemented.
27. This suggestion is a prelude to the next, PLEASE change the way the chat works to a more ergonomic and user friendly option, and PLEASE change the commonly used commands such as adding to a party, whispering etc to more well known command codes, eg /invite <name> and /w <name>.
28. Please add floating text. Now this is a topic which has been widely asked for and also widely argued against. However with the help of many threads on the topic I believe I have come up with an answer for it.
Currently there is no viable to way to reliably speak to someone else. This is for many reasons, the person may not be looking at the chat box as this game requires a lot of concentration, they may be on another chat channel and due to the currant system of alert it is very difficult to see when another channel has been spoken in. Many people have said give us floating chat bubbles, many argue that they don’t want to be seen speaking when they are hiding, and that even if it is added it should be an option that players can switch on or off, this would not work because the same problem would still occur, simple fix.
Make the default public talk channel use a /say command which would have a chat bubble over their head and should only be viewable within a certain radius. This is the simplest fix, and still allows people to speak in all the other channels as they currently do, whilst allowing users the ability to reliably communicate to others. Correct me if I’m wrong but there is no down side to this system and everyone is happy.
29. Add duel wielding (proper) I’m sure many people were disappointed when they heard proper duel wield was not in the game and that only daggers would be able to be duel wielded.
Please add an option to equip a combination of 1 handed weapons in your paper doll. NOTE: this is not a high priority but it would be a nice and welcomed addition to the game.
30. Please update many of the sound effects and add more variation, I’m sure all of us have gotten a little freaked out when we were healed and it sounded like we have just been hit by a 2 handed sword.
Well there you go that is my list of changes/fixes i think this game needs.
Note however i love this game I have simply analyzed it critically and i have also tried to take into consideration the communities opinions also.
also note MOST of these changes are simple number changes and scripting additions.
Tell me what you think
