I think clan cities need a merchant that they can dump their wares on so others can easily buy them. This will be a great addition to the player economy, because it would significantly increase the speed at which things could be sold. Only players who can click on the merchant will have access (local), not across the world global style auction.
Hell, the general store merchant could be used for this. Anything sold to him will be available for buying by other players. When someone buys it, the money (minus a small fee maybe?) goes to the player who dumped it on the merchant.

This is definately a huge need! This would allow people to make more money ingame instead of spamming chat with deals...
bump.

Best idea so far, its quite annoying to see chat spammed by WTS WTT etc :P

They should use the Vanguard broker thing that works very well imo. :)

I posted this few days ago, but the thread got swallowed by the tide of new posts... :-)
Right now you can only sell your stuff by spamming chat – which I hate so don't sell anything. At some point some kind of market system will have to be implemented.
Personaly, auction houses annoy me. Someone puts starting price of 10 gold and auction timeout in 2 days… so if you want that item you have to be online within last 5 mins of the auction ending and then bid, because biding before makes little sense.
They were announcing something about your own NPC traders or your own shops (don’t remember exactly), but probably gave up on the idea for technical reasons (how many NPC vendors or player owned shops can you fit into one town?).
I’d like it if they put in one general store, you go in, you put your stuff in it, set the price and people who come in the store can buy your stuff – same as they would buy them from npc merchant, only they buy it from players.
It would be great if there were different kinds of shops, weapons shop, food shop, potions shop… but even if they just make 1 shop for everything, that’s ok.
And shops should be local, not like banks. This would help economy - if you make something and there is a lot of that in the city where you are, prices will be cheap and profit bad. Go to another city where there is little of the stuff you make and sell it at higher prices.
Also, sellers should be made to go to the shops where they sold their stuff to pick up the money (well, nothing else to do anyway since there is no mailing system in game). I think it would be a good idea if there was a fee for using the shop, like, some % of money you get stays with NPC manager of the shop for services rendered.
If you don’t want to pay the fee, spam chat and try to sell direct.
Anyhow, I do hope they implement sth like this in the future, until they do, I’ll be broke since I don’t want to advertise and sell directly to people and I don’t take money from my clan mates for stuff I craft
PS: these shops should only be located in racial cities and player cities, not in neutral towns. This would reinforce the alignment system because people who go red wouldn't be able to use them.
Yes, i was disscussing something similar here:

Totally agree.
We definitely need some kind of broker, to sell or buy our goods, maybe for a small fee. Something similar like Vanguard did! Make it local, not universal!

yeah i was dissapointed as hell that it didnt make it in, but i think that probably had more to do with player housing. That of course isnt in either, unless they plan on opening up the houses within the clan cities to being player owned or something. Would be better instea of having all these houses just for decoration.

I totally agree, but I don't think we shall have this in player cities. At least not in the cities of clans having a negative allignment. It just does not make sense. And concerning ARAC guilds, I don't see any logic in having this feature.
I'd like to see the alliances/races relationships respected concerning this.

Best idea so far, it even made me reply...
Warhammer had a good auction system.. Darkfall should try and do something like that..
I've gotten good gear that no one in my guild needed so I sold for a few gold each to the emrchants.. stuff that would cost 200 plus if you needed to buy it from the same merchant.. But I'm not going to spam sell crap in public chat trying to find a buyer for it...

What you described is not an auction since there are no bids and timers. I like it as a concept (compared to only a spamming system or a WoW auction system), and I have only a couple of comments. NPC towns should not have such a merchant, so players will have to travel to player cities. Also the tax you mentioned should be set by the owners of the city, and a fraction of the tax , if not all of it should go to the clan bank of the clan that owns the merchant.
That's my 5 cents.

Something like bazaar with vendor accepting buy and sell orders for players or local auction house is very needed. I hope its 1 of top priorities for AV (just after fixing queues / sync issues / starting new servers)
Atm its not possible to sell or buy some cheap common items like food / potions / cheap looted weapons and armor. People prefer to pay more and stock up on vendor or gather / create needed item themselves than waiting few hours for someone trading it. That makes player economy suffer.
The biggest trade hub would be racial capitals, but every city - NPC and players (when they build required structure) should have this player-trade vendor / auction house.

I think this idea is great but only be able in NPC Towns, Because if it was in clan cities clans would just camp their merchant and kill whoever they saw trying to buy and or sell stuff and just take the stuff they had or money they made off of selling items.

Racial capitals should either not have them, or have a severe drawback attached to using them, like very high taxes or inability to trade high level items.
This is a sandbox game and all the action is supposed to revolve around player made/owned content.
Maybe have a broker at each racial capital for players to get acquainted with the system, but all the serious action should be happening at player cities.

Yes, and then everyone would stop using the broker, causing the city to lose all the taxes and citizens, that would travel to a city where traders are respected.
Seriously, a clan doing that would be shooting itself in the foot ...

I agree that there should be Auction Houses mainly because they did not give us the NPC vendors for us to sell our stuff.
I would also go ahead and implement these Auction Houses in clan cities as well. As of right now, there is absolutely no need for other people to go to clan cities other than use their bank or their general infrastructure.
I believe that clan cities should be more "attractive" to players who are not part of that clan.
