As an aspiring crafter, Trade Lord for my clan, and a wealth hungry butt pirate I'd like to know if crafting is really worth it. I've heard that crafting is a fair grind, but I can't really tell as I'm not in game yet (bloody Australian time zones). How do you guys in game feel about grinding, is it fun and fulfilling, or just a quick cash grab that anyone can do.

Also; can you still engrave your name onto the items you make?

Thanks. :sly:

Every item you craft has your character's name on it.

Well..crafting is necessary for certain things...

I never seen a grind being fun and fulfilling thought...the terms are opposites.

A better question would be: Is crafting grindy?

It depends on how you see it, if you play to have fun and through that fun playing your skills raise by your activities, then no.

If on the other hand you play to raise skills first before you start having fun, then your grinding it and it will be a grind.

grind is no fun...

Speaking from an Armorsmith's PoV:

The way crafting is right now...there's no way to make your money back. If you're lucky, you'll make production costs back.

You make more money selling the raw materials (iron and leather).

You only start making money on crafting at skill 75+ once you can start making Plate armor. So far, I'm enjoying crafting quite a bit.

I am a weaponsmith and I enjoy it quite a lot, because I can actually make USEFUL stuff from day one.

A friend of mine is armorsmith, so we can rely on ourselves pretty much. This way we shrug off losses in PvP a lot easier than others.

Of course most of the stuff can be looted, too. But as I see it, every crafted item is noticeably better than its looted counterpart...

I think weapon smithing is the most useful.

I have 75 armor smith, but I find that no one really wants crafted armor that much.

And plate is very expensive resource wise and only has 6 pieces, so I find scale to be a better option.

I craft, make my own armor and weapons. Its great!

But I have found it is way easier to kill people who already have that gear and take it :ninja:

Food and Potions don't seem to have a maker on them. I think this may be because they stack so anything else (arrows) that stacks probably doesn't have a makers mark.

To my experience, armor / tailoring sucks balls. You may as well be discarding money away. On the other hand, weaponry / bowyer I personally find is quite useful, as rank30 weps usually deal the same as rank 50s.

I find it at least weird that you need 20 ingots for a measly Shadesword. It's ridiculous!
