Hello everyone,

here I come with my little suggestion to try to make this game better.

Currently, as you may have noticed, the alignment system is quite useless.
Here are the two main problems I see :
- You can farm it. So you can get to positive alignment quite fast and easy.
- You can store it. Let's say you want to kill people, but don't want to become red. Easy, just go kill some enemies. Once you have +100 alignment, you can come and kill as much as you want.

To solve theese problems I think a better system should be based on Ultima Online.
For those who haven't played UO, here's a little summary :
- Everytime you kill a non evil player the kill is added to a counter.
- Once that counter reaches 5, you become evil (aka red).
- The only way for that counter to decrease is through play time.
- That counter cannot be negative.

With this system you cannot "farm" alignment, nor can you store it in prevision of your next killing session.

The only drawback I see is that you don't get any "bonus" or recompense for killing racial enemies.

But that can be added as some sort of "fame". The more race enemies you kill, the more famous you become.

Fame could possibly give titles or some other nifty thing...

but Darkfall is a big world, with lots of empty area. If I go, kill half a dozen naked miners, hop on my mount and escape with 200 ore made in 10 minutes all I'd have to do is find a safe place to hunker down for an hour and then ride back into town safely.

Imo they should just make the positive cap for the alignment much lower, like 10 or so.

They should also show the kill counter for the # of blue same-race kills in the pop-up identifier.

I don't remember the exact time, but in UO you have to wait like 24h or 48h to lose one kill ...
When you killed someone you actually had to remember exactly how many people you killed (there was no way to know your murder count by the way, you had to guess :D).
So, when you wanted to kill someone you really had to weight the pros and cons, because you could become red (if you counted wrong) for quite a long time ...
24h play time is a lot of time, it's even longer when you're red and half the server is on your tracks :D

The fast and simple fix to the horrendous faction exploits (2 of my 3 deaths today were alliance ganker) is this.

- Killing same enemy player or red gives you alignment points only once in 2h.

There is a longer version however.
But it's unclear if AV want a solid working faction system where alliance kills lead strictly to red or not. A certain kind of "kill that annoying asshole" mentality makes it probably impossible to install a 100% system.
So people want from time to time kill alliance player, just to loot them or just because tha guy is an asshole and need to be dead.

However that should have consequences. In a law based system this would be punished as murder. So you could have a probation time to work your 'debt' against the community off. If you repeatedly kill people, you should go red, faction or not. So a exponential rising penality should take place.

Means 1st kill in a certain time -12 faction 2nd kill in a certain time -24 and so on doubleing the penality with each kill...wich can still be worked off with racial enemy kills. However there need to be a total kill counter to 'evaluate' his overall behaviour against his alliance members.

With behaving 'proper' , that penality could be scaled back by one step.
Maybe after one day your penality shrinks by one step.

The faction bar should be asymetric then -1000 ... +100 as example.

That would fix the worst problems i think with faction.

Maybe one more topic. Gank squads formed by several alliance players.
Currently the tactic is one attack , and if you hit back a blue player jumps to flag you gray. Since it's ANYWAY who flagged gray first, that guy can be killed without any penality. That need to change imho.

Also incap and gank can be done by ONE player only, to bear the penality. ALL who helped come away with a smile as it is now.

I had a bunch of ideas on how to make this better ... thing is no matter what you are going to get dickheads running around PKing their own race and harvestors just because they can. I think a stiffer penalty for same race PKers is in order especially since opposing alliance clans are allowed and all they need to do is get a pal from the opposing alliance to meet them so they can kill em off till their alignment is back to 100. really Im not sure what the solution is ... sortta lame as it stands. I really think it should be much more of a stiff penalty ... should be a reward for people who stay ay 100+ alignment for a long period of time say ... 1 week ... maybe give them a small bonus to harvest bonus or vitality bonus. Also why not let people go evil and when they hit 100 evil they would need to do some long ass shit quest to actually be able to not be evil. Hell when people are 100% evil for 1 week give them a bonus too... make an evil city in some remote shit area they can all hang out at. Yeah I just pulled this outta my ass but somthing like this would actually appeal to a lot of players I bet and would really add an element to the game imo... plus those little vampire homos would have someone to play with.

easiest way to fix the farming of alignment points would probably be to remove factions (http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=164600).
