I hear mixed things and I don't get good results but that may be my lack of skill.

Nada none. At all.
Too little Reach, currently Sword and Board for small group and solo pvp, while Polearm and 2Handers for grouped PVP.
Bows and Magic are also essential.

They need to do something to make (melee) weapons other than 2h, 1h/board, and polearm viable.

So sword and board are actually good now that they've been sped up? You can block incoming attacks inbetween your own swings without having to go swing for swing with a 2-h?
O and dual daggers really are only meant for opening with high dps and PvE. They are also useful for kiters because of the low regen rate for kb.

eh you can block faster but you still have a delay before you swing, which still puts you on a bad timer. You can beat a polearm but anything else 2h still pwns you.
Daggers however are the exception to this cause of their quick animations, you can actually parry, attack parry, now without being hit even against a 2handed sword. Note though that you will probably lose the stam fight.
daggers are great for using moves like power strike and knockback though cause of their fast cool downs / reuse, but its still a pain to manage solo. However if you are in a group, with good dagger skill and such you can lay out some high dps on people, but without a group you just fucked, cause of their horrid range. If they atleast had the range of a 1 hander you could do it as a viable option, but without that much range you just SOL.

Against polearm, yes. Against faster, no. I tested it vs 2H sword yesterday, not enough time, first blow you take on a shield, counterattack, but second blow lands on you as you are still finishing the counterattack, next on the shield, next on your next swing. So you take 10% damage, 100% damage, 10% damage, 100% damage, while he takes nothing, 100, nothing, 100.
Daggers are under-rated. They have some of the quickest damage in the game, the downside is range and stamina usage. If you can stay on somebody the entire fight with daggers, you basically already won. Against polearms they completely dominate. The reason most people think daggers suck is because of the low range and the fact that they don't know how to use them. I don't use daggers, but I have a seen a couple people that know how to use them and they are equally as deadly as any other melee weapon.

I love it.
Less than 2 weeks ago PvPing with anything other than a two-handed weapons (specifically sword and polearm) was considered stupid. In another thread, polearms shouldn't be nerfed because they aren't very good in group PvP (because they hit teammates too easily).
Now sword and board is great and Polearms are what is used for big group combat.
To the OP. Really, no one knows and even if someone DOES know they may not be posting here and there are going to be a million different opinions.
My suggestion is to do what you like and see how it works for you.

I use the opposite. Sword & board for massive PvP and PvE farming, and 2HWeapon for small scale PvP. Once parry is up higher, I can see the shield being a possible option for 1v1 style PvP; but at low parry levels the stam drain is to great to be viable.

I will try daggers out.
Pk could use it, but for pvp, it depends on if you can close the distance. I am sure you could win, but kind of one of those things that takes more skill then normally required.
Think Gunz dstyle vs k, e style.
polearms are the way to go...even in group pvp...thier arcis best, damage is best, and the timing from swing to swing is so damn negligable, it just doesnt matter.

Right, but it will be the same here.

That was my thinking when I picked up a 1H axe and a shield. I figured that once I get my parry and 1H skills to an acceptable level it will become much more viable for survivability in large scale battles. I figure I will be less of a target with my shield out, and a 1H axe will hopefully end up doing a bit more damage than swords of the same level.
Right now though it's pretty painful, since I output so little damage and my parry is still draining stamina like mad. I figure if I rough the long road it will eventually pay off for me.

Daggers Aren't terrible, its painfully obvious though that its a better idea just to use a polearm unless your some kind of Rp-ing joke.
