Specializing in daggers should give players the opportunity to gain skills x, y and z while specializing in two-handed swords should open up a, b and c.

Flesh it out a bit, Give examples and a bigger suggestion than a two liner good sir.

for example knives could have "Quick Attack" while polearms could have "Lunge"

Edit: These are a few ideas I came up with just to exemplify the variation that I'm talking about, they're very general and don't include much detail. Also, I couldn't come up with anything for swords, never really used them much in any game.

One handed sword - ?

Two handed sword - ?

Dagger - Stab : 110% normal damage to the front and 120% normal damage to the back

Polearm - Lunge : Leap 3 yards forward

One handed mace - Ravage : An attack that does 105% normal damage and ignores armor

Two handed mace - Crushing Blow : An attack that ignores a parry or block

One handed axe - Slice : 0.3 second stun

Two handed axe - Wrath : A 5 second 110% buff to all attacks made with a two handed axe

You guys chuck in your ideas now! Tweak and add detail to mine if you can't come up with anything of your own.

He means every weapon has the same 4 skills. I'd like to see piercing weapons do a bleed attack, polearms do a mana drain etc..

i agree with the op!
there should be special attacks.

someone suggested a stamina drain attack with mace for example.
i would suggest a high range attack with polearm and a disarm attack with swords...

i really hope the devs come up with nice special attacks. it would make the melee gameplay very much more interesting!

the game has a lot of magic skills but i havent seen many weapon skills stuns, bleed, drains, things like that are all good. i also thought elemental weapons would be nice.

I know what he means, but no one is going to take a two liner suggestion thread seriously.

Nice work fleshing it out.

Hopefully theses skill will all be on the same cooldown, to stop people whipping out different weapons and spamming Special attacks.

or make it so you can only take special abilities in one weapon and fofiet your current ones to switch, would need work but it would stop someone from carring everything to do everything.
