I've noticed people's views on weed are a lot like people's views on gay people. If you've smoked before, you understand it and don't look down upon it, just like usually if you are close with a homosexual you're much more supportive of their lifestyle.

just cuz some of us like, or even love weed...doesn't mean we'd like to take 12" in the jaw essay. some of us like sucking Bongs...not...Dongs.

so what, is weed a fucking lifestyle now?

BTW it's been pushed back for a two-year review. Won't show up again till early 2010.

But that's a good thing since it'll give time for more support build up and whatnot.

Active Ingredient in Marijuana Kills Brain Cancer Cells

- New research out of Spain suggests that THC -- the active ingredient in marijuana -- appears to prompt the death of brain cancer cells.

I posted this a few pages back but worth while read with lots of researched information. Emperor wears no clothes (http://www.jackherer.com/chapters.html)

It is absolutely atrocious how propaganda has so strongly skewed so many peoples perspectives on marijuana. Marijuana was first illegalized in 1937 as a result of a racist movement against African Americans and Mexicans. Then, during WWII when it was again profitable for the US to utilize, cannabis and hemp was legalized. Then, after WWII, the Senate voted to illegalize it again for the opposite reason as last time, Reefer Madness doesn't exist, but communists will use it to weaken our youths wills...

Please, if anyone here hasn't seen it, please watch The Union (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9077214414651731007&ei=S6CGSemCNJGu-QGBiZ3uCw&q=the+union&hl=en). It is a very well done documentary about Cannabis, and it will most likely teach everyone on these forums a thing or two. A very, very good watch, I highly recommend it. Hell, I liked it so much I bought it :P

And also, despite what a lot of people here seem to think, Cannabis legalization is coming. Senate Bill 714 (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:S.714:) has just recently been announced, and is going to commission a federal review of our criminal justice system here in the United States, and also dealing specifically with Cannabis and Drugs in general. A very, very great Bill, I strongly urge everyone to email or send in their letters supporting it. Forms are Here (http://capwiz.com/norml2/issues/alert/?alertid=13046001)!

Also, medical Marijuana bills are already up this year in over two dozen states, let alone already being passed in at least 10 states and being decriminalized in many more. NORML (http://norml.org) has a great map here (http://norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=4516), check it. Actually, I live in the only state in the Union without any sort of Marijuana friendly law, Missouri. There are a few city ordinance decriminalization bills here, one here in Columbia even, so I guess hopefully its on the way. Its up for vote this year here in MO, so support the bill here!

Complete Legalization is actually already up for legislature in two states as this is being typed, in both California and in Massachusetts. And to anyone who may also think that, for ANY reason, Cannabis is unhealthy in ANY way, you are wrong: (I'll even post vids so you guys don't even have to read)

Study Finds No Cancer-Marijuana Connection (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/05/25/AR2006052501729.html) - Tashkin on Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJmQ16cGBHU)
Pot Compound Triggers Cell Death in Cancer Cells (http://norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=6267)
Cannabis Facilitates Neurogenesis (Cell Growth) (http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2005/10/051016083817.htm)

BOTTOM LINE: Cannabis' use has been documented for over 10,000 years, medicinally, therapeutically, and recreationally. It alleviates pain, stimulates brain cell growth, does not cause cancer even when smoked, and in fact may help PREVENT cancer! In all of Cannabis' documented historical use, there has never been even one death attributed to its use. And yet, Alcohol causes 80,000 deaths a year from poisoning alone, not counting all the fatal car accidents and incidents of violence, and Tobacco causes 400,000 deaths a year in the United States alone, and both of these substances are regulated and legal.

The hipocracy is finally almost to an end here in the states, or so I desperately hope. Get active, either in an organization like NORML (The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) or SSDP (Students for Sensible Drug Policy) or just email or write your Senators, Representatives, Mayors, and more. There are forms on NORML to do all of this in like 2 minutes, I linked to one in this articles. Just thought I'd post a small little 'rant' on Cannabis, I am currently writing a book called Haze: An Examination of Social, Cultural, and Intellectual Drug Use. If you'd like to talk about it or be involved potentially, PM or email me.

nothing wrong with weed, except the fact that this bill wont pass, people would grow their own shit if it was legal, and the state would gain hardly any money.

this is just another hippy dream...not a bad dream, but in the end still a dream

They can grow it now ;)

:lmao: There really isn't much to argue, Cannabis Prohibition is just down right wrong. What did Alcohol Prohibition do? Not fix anything, cause a large rapid growth in organized crime around the production and sale, and a lot more people drank during Prohibition then now. There were more speak easys then then there are taverns, bars, clubs, and venues combined now.

Cannabis? /win
Alcohol? /causes brain atrophy, kidney and liver damage, and various cancers
Tobacco? /causes a bunch of cancer all up in yo shit.

Smoke more weed. That is all.

They postponed the vote on AB390. I'd rather want them to legalize all the phenthylamines and tryptamines. DOM and 5-MeO-DMT would be so much better than cannabis.

Also, add in the fact that due to hemp being the best fiber for just about anything and that nothing produces more paper per acre, that DuPont heavily aided in the lobby to criminilize marijuana. This inturn ensured the destruction of their one competitor against their growing synthetic fiber industry. The true power of lobbies was recognized during this time and the rest is history.

Also, the only mental effects i have had from weed are panic attacks which have happend twice from too many bong hits. I had a much more terrifying experience the day after a night of heavy drinking...vodka and red bull all night. The next day I ended up in hospital from a severe panic attack in which my heart actually palpatated for over a minute. I thought 100% that I was going to die...the panic attacks from the weed werent even in the same ballpark as this!

lol the funny thing is that the belief that marijuana "kills brain cells" was debunked years ago. They came to that conclusion by pumping 20 times the volume of marijuana smoke into the lungs of monkeys. Turns out the monkeys were being suffocated because they weren't getting enough oxygen. What happens when you suffocate? You lose brain cells.

now other states are starting to follow california and propose bills to legalize marijuana. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

please state your ignorant views on why weed is bad for you, when in reality its safer then all the alcohol, proscription drugs, energy drinks, aspirin, anything.

if shit gets passed, im moving.

Here is my opinion. Weed is NOT man made, along with shrooms and cocaine. Like the OP stated, it is safer than alcohol, prescription drugs, energy drinks, aspirin and nearly everything that is considered a "drug". This I do agree with. I am a smoker myself and I see nothing wrong with it. So what? I may lose a few brain cells. I have never had any problems with smoking weed, it has never once made me make a bad decision that I have ended up regretting. It makes food taste better, it makes sex better, it makes boring stuff... not boring.

The Government is in MAJOR debt. Would you like to know how you can decrease crime as well as make a huge profit? Sell weed to people over the age of 18. When you turn 18, you are considered an adult... hell, I'm 23 so you can make it 21 for all I care... you will still have people of age purchasing it for younger kids like we do alcohol and cigarettes. However, you're using several "task forces" to go into houses of known drug dealers, wasting the tax payers money to do so. Use that money and bust people who are actually doing bad shit, cooking meth, selling meth, heroine, PCP... etc.

If you were to take something that a LOT of people do... more than you non-pot smokers know about... and make it where we can go to Walgreens and buy it... the government would make a shit ton of money. Right now, the average price around where I live, in the Midwest... an ounce of some good weed... Kush for example, sells for about 400 dollars. If you were to allow companies... or people who grow herbs to purchase a license and then mass grow it and sell it... you can have medical grade marijuana selling for 25 dollars a quarter. It would be amazing... we would all be happy.

And again, as I was saying earlier... those commercials you see about kids being stupid. Stealing money from their mother, letting people write all over them, leaving your friends behind and getting their own way home... that has nothing to do with the weed. Those were your own stupid decisions you would have done even if you weren't high.

In my opinion... as you have seen, legalize weed and make a shit load of money. For those of you who disagree... you probably suck the Presidents dick on a daily basis and you can fuck off for all I care.
