Is letting anyone allowed to make a poll a bad idea?

Even though i argued for the publicisation of the polls, a few minutes later im thinking it was a really bad idea.

If you kept it to either yes or no, this poll would have been nice but if you make a poll in the future please leave out options like nr 3 out ;)
Brannoc is just testing the "maturity" of the forum population here.

I think option three is good comic relief.
Should we make a poll about it?

I think we all know how it will turn out. Prove me wrong!

man plz don't.
Try to show some of the people here, including me, that the new darkfall followers can be serious as well :)

OK people lets try and prove Brannoc wrong, or at least see if we can keep this thing open and hour so we dint get flamed for losing it by the late bloomers.

Ah crap, I voted 2, but meant to vote 1. :D Perhaps 2 sections of polls would work ;)

I voted that no, this isn't a bad idea because I think the majority of this community is mature enough to post on-topic polls, but we'll see. Hopefully we can keep this open indefinately.
P.S. Option three was changed to be more on topic with the poll and give a viable third option.

It's a great idea, of course. The boards aren't that retarded, and people can handle making Darkfall related polls.

What's up with all of the shitty attitudes? It's hasn't even been up for a day and you people are already telling Brannoc to close it off. Every other gaming forum has a poll center, and they're doing just fine. Get out of here if you don't believe in this community. These are the people that you're going to be playing with. Prove Brannoc wrong.

2 polls have been deleted already, not just closed, deleted, as if they never existed.

if someone wants to make a poll, pm it to Brannoc to let him approve it. thats how it should be IMO.
I don't see what the problem is with this concept, except for Brannoc having to go through alot of shitty polls in PM :(
Taurohta

None were getting posted, that was the problem.

Well other mods can just delete shitty polls so brannoc doesn't have to do it alone ;)

Yeah I already recieve a high enough load of messages a day, last thing I need is polls in there too. ;) If this fails maybe I'll delegate some random staff member (did someone say Marrock?!)

While polls can be a good thing if the Devs need to learn something, for the most part they are unnecessary for general forums discussions. Simply asking a question and getting an answer is much easier than setting up a poll with limited answers where some people might view things differently than you've seen outcomes for.
They are a quick way to decide something simple but most subjects have ambigious answers so polling is not really warranted.

if the choices are well thought out in relation to the question, I prefer polls. I would raither look at a bar graph than 10 pages of useless schtuff.

I think it is an awsome idea, and I think the person who thought of it is a genious..
This allows everyone to have an opinion.

Seriously, though, as long as we all keep an eye on this forum, it should certainly be managable and work out well.

Personally I think this has worked out great so far. We have had quite a few good topics started and the only people who have complained have been the moderators.
One moderator was mad at that poll about characters per server because it was the same as the previous poll on the same subject. Thats kind of the same thing as all the people around here who shout at every new topic and yell obnoxious things like: "OMGWTFBBQ!?!? We Already had a topic about this three months ago!? Can't you just wait for the game to be released!?"
And you know, nobody would have reposted the new poll if someone hadn't closed all the old ones...

Before the game comes out it's fine. I just believe that the community should keep their imput to themselves after launch so the game doesn't turn out like that "others"
This game looks amazing - I'm just waiting for carebears to get involved. :|

Ok, im starting to lean towards yes... today there was a tonne of stupid polls that never told us anything :P whether or not youd kill a thief, i mean what kind of question is that? whether or not youll ebay... amount of hits to go this mythical 'red flagged' ... fire damage on buildings...
I don't think so Ripper.
If anything it gives us something to debate about.
However, I don't think the polls accomplish much more than a lively debate. The results are certainly not represenitive of the community as a whole.

Polls are not for pubic knowledge! It's horrible to think that people can get volunteered info from people!
