I hear they will, apparently i'm to tell them that I get the 3 rings of death (even though I don't) and they will fix it for free and pay shipping costs...

Anyone know if they will fix it even if they find out it's just not reading discs?

pretty sure if you tell them it's red rings they just replace it anyway.

Either way, they produced a product that is well below industry standard failure rates, and should pay to fix their shitty system.

why would you want one?

Worst hardware,

Charge you for everything,

"Microsoft Points",

Great software, because microsoft doesn't make it.

toros I've had my fair share of problems with the ps3, including having it not output shit on startup for NO REASON AT ALL 2 weeks after purchase. The first time I called to send it out I got shit. Second time was the charm, and they had it back to me in 4 weeks.

Now, that's no horror story, but I did lose all of my data from the h.d.d. on the system.

Wowee I didn't really the Xbox360 had so many problems, I had to pay money to get mine fixed but it needed a new CPU because I had left my xbox on too long and it melted, not the crack either it wasn't usable. They will pay for the 3 rings because its "3 rings of death" so you will get a new xbox. They have a fast response/repair time and you get a free month of xbox live gold when it comes back. I've had a horrid time with the PS3 but everyone has there own stories

yeah but that's not what I wanted to know, I don't have the 3 rings problem it just won't read discs, I was told to TELL THEM I have the prob. instead of not reading discs and they will fix it (apparently)

Wickfield, I see what you're getting at, but defective products are always going to happen.

They just shouldn't have mostly defective ones, a la xbox.

And making you pay double for internet? for "xbox live" and through your ISP is a scam.

Right, use the internet for it instead of the phone, they cut money off of the bill if any and you can see what you may or may not have to pay.

newer XBoxes dont have this issue (reportedly)

For any 360 you can get this supercooler (which you obviously have to pay for) that adds three fans in a block onto the back of you 360 for minty fresh coolness

Me? I just dont play mine long enough for it to break :)

Whether or not you will get free repair for ROD's depends on the model. Microsoft recently suspended free support on ROD-issues for the first models on the market.

Shame the PS3 is overpriced for the models they are offering and to be honest sucks balls

I was a loyal PS fan but their tactic of rolling out models in Japan then US and then rolling out a sub-standard version for EU was , quite frankly, taking the fricken piss

Here in teh UK we got nasty 40Gig models for what people in the US were paying for higher Capacity (120?) and we got no backward compatability (that IMHO was the biggest fuckup they made)

so people with a PS2 and a vast collection of games HAVE to keep teh PS2 inorder to play those games on the PS3.......

Sony didnt so much shoot them selves in the foot with that marketing strategy as nails it to the floor, flame it with napalm then take a shotgun to their shins before cutting the leg off at the knee with a rusty dinner knife.....

Micro$oft got my bucks now and most developers are releasing games multi platform to increase their income for their games

Yes how dare they charge you for services they provide, it's an outrage! I can't believe how forumfall can be so pro-capitalism and anti-business at the same time.

Anyway OP if your xbox is under warranty, they replace it for free. If it's not but it's an early model, they replace it for a modest price (cheaper than buying a new one at any rate). If it's a later model they try to fix it but it still costs. Whatever you do, don't send your HDD.

I much prefer playing on my PC as opposed to Xbox

but now i got it hooked up to my PC monitor via VGA cable, but no sound on the Xbox anymore, but I can live with that, much rather have a better picture and no sound than shit picture and sound

Actually, no matter what to get your xbox repaired even if you have to pay its cheaper then buying a PS3,

Only the original Xbox's had the problems and Microsoft Admitted that and fixed it so any ones within 1-1/2 years have no problems unless left on too long and over heat.

Microsoft will fucking sue you for damaging their made xbox.

They'll have some awesomesauce lawyers who make the judge believe kicking an xbox is like kicking someones adopted baby, the biological mother isn't legal owner, but god damn its her child anyway.

If you got your warranty left, yeah, they'll fix and ship it for free.

If not, you're shit outta luck. the red ring of death is the only problem that they will fix for free, disregarding warranty.

My 360 has been running strong for two and a half years now, never had a problem with it.
and if you send it back claiming it's red ring of death when it's not, worst case scenario they send it back, and charge you for shipping - best case scenario they replace it. Your risk to take.
