Underground Dungeon
This place is dank, and dark. Torches sputtering thick oily smoke are thinly spaced along the walls, revealing a slime covered stones. The torches are loose in their brackets, able to be taken if you so wished.
The layout of this dungeon was explained to you before you were forced to descend. The outside walls are a simply box shape, running all the way around. There are two paths criss-crossing from the center of each side, creating in effect, 4 squares within the box.In the center of the dungeon, there is of course a four-way intersection, allowing travel to either edge of the outer square.
You and your opponent have been placed at opposite ends of this place to the East and the West.
It is tight down here, perhaps too tight. Little more than a metre distance across. If you were to stand akimbo, your elbows would likely touch the walls. The roof is similiarly imposing, no more than 2 metres high. Swinging long weapons down here nigh impossible, it seems.
---
To the crowds above, the pit floor, once covered in sand, now seems a radiant pool of light. When focused upon, they can see any area of the dungeon below they wish. The four mages at each point of the square chant in a low voice in unison, to keep the effect flowing.
There are another four, kept in reserve, should any need to break before the match is decided. Switching a mage mid session is difficult, but certainly preferable than having one faint, losing the entire image effect.
They wait, they sit and stare, looking at the fighters, assessing, not yet knowing who to root for in the dangerous place below.

Exhaling a cleansing breath, Cielwyn stretches his limbs quickly as the gate opens revealing the arena before him. Scanning the layout briefly, he locks it into memory. Interesting, tight spaces with numerous corners. Lets start this one off quickly then. A smile began to form on his face, already planning his next several moves with delight. Unslinging his bow from his back, he quickly grabs a barbed arrow from the quiver at his hip and brings it to the string. Aiming only at the gateway across, he looses the shot then quickly grabs another arrow, watching the opposing gate for any movement. This opponent comes well armed from my information, lets see how well prepared he is.

[I]Daetalion patiently waited behind gate while taking short, but deep puffs off a small ivory pipe. A blue haze came across his eyes and his lips formed into a slight grin as a familiar feeling swept over his body. At first came a rush of euphoria followed by an intense explosion of energy, both physical and magical. The spheres of Marduk began to spin around his head at an accelerated speed and his gauntlets illuminated with a faint red glow. He whispered a one last enchantment as he assumed the warrior stance and prepared for battle. The gate opened and he was just about to crack open one of his vials when an arrow flew past his head. There was no time to use the dragon

Alerted by the sparks drawn against the walls by his opponent, Cielwyn quickly springs into action. Jumping forward and left, he leaps out of the entrance-gate and into the first lefthand corridor. He rises to his feet quickly and turns back in time to watch the fiery orb sail past. Interesting fireball, looks like he prefers to be ranged as well. That suits me fine for now, lets see how many of those he can throw at me then. Cielwyn pulls the arrow in his hand against the string and holds it back at eye level. Remembering where his opponent was standing illuminated by the sparks, Cielwyn quickly leans out from the corner and looses his second shot towards where the midsection on his opponent would be according to his memory. Quickly retreating back behind the safety of the corner, he grabs another arrow from his quiver and plans his next move.

Sparks flew from Daetalion's hands as he dodged an incoming arrow cuasing his current spell to fizzle. He quickly exited the entrance gate and ran down the nearest corridor to his right. When he reached the end of the corridor he turned left, leaned against the wall, and instantly began a chant for his next spell. As he recited the short incantaion a small green orb appeared above his head.
This particular spell was actually invented by human sorceror who worshiped the outlawed Gods of old. It wasn't lethal, but rather a stun attack that would send random singles to the victims nervous system upon contact. These singles, although false, would be interpreted as commands from the brain and they would respond accordingly overwhelming the victim with intense muscle spasms which would ultimately render him immobile for a short period of time. Altough it only takes a couple of seconds to cast, only a direct hit to the head (brain) or spine can completely immobileize the victim. If it hits a limb, only the limb itself will become paralyzed.
"If I can just paralyze him for a few seconds," Daetalion thought "it should give me enough time to finish him off with my guntlets."
With the orb above his head and his guantlets carefully positioned in front of him, daetalion continued down the corridor to unleash his next attack.

Stepping back around the corner to aim his next shot, Cielwyn nearly breaks his silence with a curse. Not seeing his opponent where he had been before, he realizes that the stalking game has begun. I wonder what he has planned next, more spells or a silent attack from behind a corner... Cielwyn's enjoyment of the fight is almost too much to contain and a slight smile appears on his mouth. He quickly replaces the arrow into the quiver at his waist and with a flip of the wrist, reverses his grip on the bow and silently eases it back onto his back.
Listening intently to his environment, he thinks next on his weapon choice for the new game he and Daetalion were playing. Any turn of the corner could reveal him, or me. The next move will practically decide the fight. Then I need not worry about defense... His arms ease to his sides, one grasping the hilt of his rapier, the other reaching behind for his lucky Rusty dagger. Drawing them, he clears his head for a moment, preparing to react the moment of sighting his opponent, then silently turns the corner into the center corridor facing Daetalion's entryway and moves down the hall.

Naithin frowns slightly as he steps forward, looking down into the magical field revealing the contestants below. Little had occured, little upon which to yet judge.
"D...Cie.." He pauses, the frown deepening further. So hard to choose. He closed his eyes a moment, resting a hand on his forehead, rubbing it in thought. "From what there has been so far.. You have both done well.." He starts, looking up from his hand once more, "But there can only be one victor for this match today.."
That victor is.. Cielwyn!"
