For X:

1)Always go in a corner for the the first move.
2)If other player goes anywhere but center you have already won (explained later).
3)If player goes in center, go to OPPOSITE corner.
4)If they go to a corner, take the last corner, and you have won.
5)If they go anywhere else its a tie game.
6)Generally X wins or ties.

For O:

1)If X started anywhere but the corner, play to a tie game.
2)If X started in a corner, go in the center.
3)If X takes another corner, go anywhere but a corner and play to a tie game.
4)Generally O does not win (tie).

If you can win on a move as X or O without following these rules due to the other players own stupidity, please make the winning move and dont be an idiot.

Sample Game 1 (X wins):

X starts in corner

x _ _
_ _ _
_ _ _

O goes somewhere that isn't a corner

x _ _
_ _ o
_ _ _

X goes in another corner, that at the same time doesn't allow the other player to get 2 on the same line once they block.

x _ x
_ _ o
_ _ _

NOT

x _ _
_ _ o
x _ _

O will block

x o x
_ _ o
_ _ _

You win by going into the correct third corner

x o x
_ _ o
x _ _

Sample Game 2 (X wins):

X goes in corner

_ _ x
_ _ _
_ _ _

O goes in center

_ _ x
_ o _
_ _ _

X takes OPPOSITE corner

_ _ x
_ o _
x _ _

O takes a corner

o _ x
_ o _
x _ _

X takes remaining corner and wins

o _ x
_ o _
x _ x

Sample Game 3 (Tie):

X takes corner

_ _ _
_ _ _
x _ _

O takes center

_ _ _
_ o _
x _ _

X takes opposite corner

_ _ x
_ o _
x _ _

O DOES NOT take a corner

_ o x
_ o _
x _ _

X and O play until tie

_ o x
_ o _
x x _

_ o x
_ o _
x x o

x o x
_ o _
x x o

x o x
o o _
x x o

x o x
o o x
x x o

Sample Game 4 (Tie):

X does not start in corner

_ x _
_ x _

Play until tie

All other situations in a game of TicTacToe will lead to a tie, unless a foolish mistake is made by either player.

Small correction

In sample game one, "O goes somewhere that isn't a corner" should be "O goes somewhere that isn't the center"

I didn't read it, but I thought it was common knowledge. I heard about it when I was like 12 and figured it out when I was 9-10.

The only winning move is not to play.

I wonder how it would be like to kidnap two proffesional tic-tac-toe players, put a gun to both their heads, give em a cup of coffe with amphetamines in it, then tell em the winner gets to live.

So...you learned about the game at 12yrs old then travelled back in time to master it at age 10?

If you can do that you should seriously set your sights higher than mastering this game! Nobel Prize for something gogogo.

if you start and you lose with tic tac toe, you suck big time. it's impossible to lose if you start and you play correctly.

Just saying your strat for starters and "if they go anywhere else it's a tie' is wrong.

It's too simple a game, if any game of tic tac toe doesn't end in a tie then one of the players is a dribbling retard.

nope, if you start you should win. so it's a stupid game to decide things on. the winner in a row of matches is decided by the one who wins the coinflip, or one of them does something stupid.

tic tac toe is a game invented by 4 year olds, grats on "mastering" it.

and yes, the only way to beat someone is if they are a retard or less than 4 years old.

Sorry, but if O goes center on the first turn then it will be a tie.

I'll play you for it. You can be X.

Edit: Nevermind just played a shit ton of games and first player always wins.

Didn't he just explain that with perfect play it's a tie?

Yes you were correct the first time, if both players are smart it will always end in a tie for instance:

Do the smart thing and choose the corner first (has the highest possibility and probability for you to win)

x _ _
_ _ _
_ _ _

If O decides to go anywhere but the center you already won, explained before in the guide. Lets say they do however go in the center because they are not a "dribbling retard".

x _ _
_ o _
_ _ _

Now X goes in the opposite corner because again it gives you the highest chance of winning.

x _ _
_ o _
_ _ x

Now if O goes in a corner you win by going in the opposite corner, or they go on a side and it leads to a tie.
