No point to this post you need to play the game.

nope, skill gain is fine
Macroing or not, SOME people will be ahead of you no matter what if you don't play 24/7 or use time more efficiently in game than someone else. Play the game and enjoy it.

Now does macroing have anything to do with the skill gain being fine?

The reason i ask is because macroing seems to be largely skill related. So i think all the macroers would say theres something wrong with it.

Lets try to keep this poll going a little longer.

It takes a minute to understand it if your going for min/max play, but overall it feels like it goes at a pretty good place, unlike in beta I'm able to see noticeable changes in my damage output for melee, magic and archery. Not sure about non-combat skills though...

why did you guys vote NO? I mean it goes pretty fast for melee so its fine for that, but to nearly everything else, skill gain is an INTENSE GRIND! Why do you guys like grinds? I mean it would be ok if each skill level meant something, but instead, there are plateaus and tiers, and you aren't even sure when you hit them, making a slow grind even more unbearable.

Grinding is hardcore, therefor the must be a lot of grind to make this game even more hardcore *Nods*

this wasn't what the devs implied when they said DF was going to be a "hardcore mmo", if we wanted that kindof hardcore, we would all be playing f2p korean mmo's

Did they ever say exactly 100% what they ment by hardcore? :3

Depends on how you define "wrong"
Personally I think that fact that so many people resort to macroing says something about skill gain and the system itself. Thats just me though

Yes """" It gos up to dam fast!!
It should take years of playing to max out a skill in my book.
If it does then you will still be way higher then a noob, so you will be some what of a master to lower skilled ppl .
But we dont need end game in a mmo!

If you dont want an intense grind, go PvP somewhere else.
Oh wait, there isnt anywhere else.
Grinding is part of the game, you cant be "good" after a few months, you need to do shit everyday for years to be "good".
For once a game doesnt hand you shit, if you dont like it, then stop praying itll change, because too many think its fine.

Skill gain itself is fine (even a little fast, imo). It's the system that is broken and encourages macroing.
Honestly, harvesting/gathering should have an automated system where you click once to stop/start harvesting rather than having to click every 10 seconds.

i seriously don't understand what mmo you're referring to that doesn't require a gigantic grind. Maybe you're referring to the carebear WoW where things are just "handed to you", nope! WAIT! It can't be WoW since how powerful you are is dependent only on carebear things like how much you grinded and not on player skill and strategy; and there's a SHIT load of grind in WoW, especially at the endgame.
So please tell us, what mmo are you referring to? Anyway, a game like this really needs a small grind allowing everyone to max up pretty fast since its hackers galore b/c AV doesn't have countermeasures to hackers.

So please tell us, what is this mmo that things are just "handed to you"?
How hard was it to craft or skill gain in WoW compared to DF? I personally think it was easy and things were handed to you much more so then in DF. I have played Wurm Online which is more of an epic grind the DF is, so DF is a step down, and therefore, there is no need to macro.
Obviously most people dont think theres a problem with skill gain, so macroing is useless.
