How about some neutral speculation about what would you do as Aventurine?
How would you personally handle the situation?
All information we have about them is that they dont have money and they dont have time and they have some fucked up problems and they released the game too early. You would have done the same mistakes this far. How would you handle the situation from now on?
Example:
I would spend a hour or so speculating what I can do. I would start sleeping abit more to get my toughts clear. (I said we dont have time, but if you think about the sleeping like this: 2hours more everynight, means after a week 14hour "delay" with the problems fixed. Sleeping 2hours more or spending it with actually doing something not related to job would improve quality of my work for atleast twice and it would pay itself back in a week or two, besides, 14hour delay is nothing.
I would find some friend or someone who would help me with the PR situation. I would tell him that if he does the favor and helps me he will get paid later. Even a retard could write updates every 2hours and tell people how it looks like with the situation. I could myself focus on the issues.
(I havent spent the "hour of thinking" about the issues yet so this is not probably the smartest thing, just what came first to my mind)
I would also start being honest and tell people that we fucked up, I mean, we really fucked up with the release, but we are doing everything we can to keep eager fans updated and assisted. (Well I would just make em think I'm honest, but thats the important part isnt it?)

For the most part I agree with your method. I think the general consensus on the forums is that players want a game even if it is incomplete (though I have seen the other opinion), so I as the leader of Aventurine would put everyone who could help onto expanding server sizes and fixing the billing problem, and then the rest of the employees that can't do that should be managing PR on the forum, answering questions, make a big update to slow the questions down, discussing with the players, etc.

:D The main point is just what would you do as Aventurine if you were in their situation. Killing it aint really an option. I mean.. if you were the developer you actually (should atleast) care about the game.. Killing it would just be giving up. The situation aint that bad yet imo.

Something like that. If they are trying to make some profit with the game they should really start thinking more about the customers.
Anyways... some more ideas would be cool.

I would've allowed everyone to play the game on the 20th of February (provided the pay $100 of course). Then I would close the billing to everyone who didn't make it in, fix the issues with the server and the billing process, and let everyone else in on the 5th of march (for the normal $50~ price).
More importantly, I would have stated this clearly and BS-free on the DF website (which would be updated).

I too think that the key is to bee honest, tell what's going on, and stop saying everything will be fine "soon", as it clearly aint the case.

Wow! You are a genius! I think Aventurine should hire you right now so you can sit them all down and teach them the right way to be a company. I think you should write your own motivational self-help book and travel the world teaching your enlightened ways.
/sarcasm
Only a consumer obsessed person like you would think you're being lied to. They have been straight up with the issues that are happening and doing what they can to fix them.
Why create useless and speculative threads about a company in which you have no personal relationship with? You have no idea how these people work and what they are doing on a daily basis. They are probably working their asses off for you and people like you just don't appreciate it.

Constructive. I said neutral. I never said I know anything about the company but what I wrote there. You cant say that its not true that they dont have much money and they dont have much time. (actually I dont even know this, so sorry... but I mean.. 1+1=2 usually...)
They either dont have money to hire me.
I never said I dont appriciate it. I know they are doing what they can, but I'm sure that you know that aswel as I do; they could do better. Everyone can do better.
If you look abit around the forums, you can see that the customers aint satisfied... and to make money you usually need satisfied customers or it wont carry you long.

almost every MMO release I've ever seen has had similar problems at launch, UO, EQ, etc. even WoW.
WoW had plenty of server outages for the first few weeks of release. They just apologized, gave everyone extra/full rest bonus and tacked on time to everyone's accounts.
Blizzard was a larger company that had experience running battle.net and they still couldn't handle the launch of WoW correctly.
Which is why I don't play MMO games at launch anymore. There are always going to be problems. Sucks for those that pre-ordered or managed to secure a download right away, but anyone who's been around MMOs for awhile should have expected this.
