Hi there guys,

Round Two is beginning, do you have what it takes to challange and defeat the current reigning champion and fearsome alfar, Animus Morier? Sign up, and find out. Champion of this round will go on to combat him in one on one combat, a fight surely not to be missed.

I'm taking signups now for a limited (although at this time, undecided) period for applicants who wish to prove themselves in one on one combat in the arena.

To sign up I need this information from all of you:

Character Sheet
Character Name:
Gender:
Race: Chose only from DF races please.
Age:

Favoured Weapon:
Favoured Armor:
Any additional equipment:

Physical Description: The more details the better. Height, eye and hair colour, skin tone, hair style, scarring, anything and everything you imagine your character to be.

Character Story: Feel free to make this as long or as short as you wish, but I'm looking to see in essence, what makes your character tick. What thought processes it goes through, what experiences brought it here.

--***--

The Rules

Rules will be fairly standard RP Arena/Fight rules and ettiquite. But for those unsure, here are some of the main points.

* No 'ubering'. ie; avoiding anything and everything, or expecting your own blows to all be lethal killing blows.

Which brings to next point..

* In your post, do not assume any move you do is an auto-hit. Allow the other person to post their responce and decide whether it is a hit or a miss, or whether they can partially deflect and take a lesser blow as a result.

* Be fair. If there is no possible way your character could realistically avoid the incoming blow, take it.

* Do not 'control' your opponent in your own post. You can only reference any moves that they have already expressly said they are carrying out. And even then, be sensible with how far you go, as in their next post they may wish to alter something.

--***--

Some examples of how to post attacks follow, taken from an old duel in the arena between Burl (played by AshTheUgly) and myself.

Burl:

"This is going to hurt" Burl thought to himself as acted out the choice he had made to close the gap as soon as his opponent decided to make a move. But this was the "opening" he was hoping for. A knife fighter needs to be close, against a staff wielder the only way to get in is to not defend the first attack but to take it. This would get him in, in where his balanced daggers could act just as extentions from his hand.

Naithin's blow struck Burl about two inches above is knee squarly on the inner thigh muscle, but the outcome was easier to take than Burl had expected. "That couldn't have been a full strength attack?" Burl pondered in the split second between the blow and his very own attack.

As the impact finished Burl swiftly glided his hands, or more importantly, his blades to the shaft itself and began to slide them toward the hands that gripped the staff. With all of his body wieght traveling toward his opponent he heard the grinding noise of his blade's friction against the aged wood and hoped that he could score some damage against the most vital part of his enemy...his fingers.

Naithin:

Naithin was but a moment surprised that his first testing move had met in contact. It wasn't as hard as it could have been, but he knew from past spar matches, that the mithril touch was not a very forgiving one, and would no doubt bruise and be very painful later.

What he then noticed next, was that Burl was ignoring it.

And then he noticed burl was heading his way, and then the sound of the dagger on wood registered. 'Damnit' he muttered inwardly, Burl had let it hit him, in order to carry out his current assault.

In rapid succession his mind offered him suggestions within the space of split seconds. Some of them were simply no good. But just in time he settled on one that he thought might work.

Releasing his grip on the staff with the forward hand, he shot it forward open fisted, palm first at Burl's in rushing head, while his remaining hand on the staff twisted and raised his end into the air.

His hope was that either the palm to head would send his rushing opponent sprawling, or at the very least, that the move of staff would allow the daggers to follow the original momentum and slide harmlessly off the other end as the staff continued to rotate.

The main parts to note are how we handle the attacks and counter-attacks. We don't assume anything we did hit, we leave that open to the next post.

In the case of the last part of my post, even though it was a defensive move, and technically my right to give final call on whether it hit or not, I decided in this particular instance it wasn't fair to assume that such a simple move would automatically work, Burl could have changed direction, or something, so I left that open to him. In some instances, it is better to do that rather than risk pissing off your opponent by making them miss when they could have done something differently.

Burl decided to let that one go, and it did miss in his next post, but if he had decided to do something else, such as change direction, again, he wouldn't have auto hit, but allowed me to make a defensive move.

It all basically comes down to common sense.

Matches can be fought to the death if the combattants are so inclined - there will be healers in attendance - or til one combattant simply collapses.

If at the end of a match there is no dead or unconscious party, I will judge. Judging will be based on quality of RP and adherence to the RP fighters etiquitte.

There may also be some 'alternative' matches, some as teams, or pairs. State on your application if you might be interested in also taking part in one of these.

Note: Due to comments and queries regarding the last round, judging has changed slightly. You may have noticed a subtle difference in the wording between the two. It *not* about who has sustained the most damage, if you are still realistically holding your ground, then you still have equal weighting when it comes down to being judged on purely the roleplay and adherence factors.

Quality of the roleplay is important, adherence to the fight flow and keeping some sense of realism to your movements counts for a lot. But as before, if one party is incapacitated to the point they are unconscious or dead, the other party moves on. But given the rules, this can only occur by your consent.

Race: Human
Age: 52

Favored Weapon: Oak staff, Storm Magic

Additional Equipment: A belt wrapped around his waist contains two blue viles and two red. The blue replenish Tempest's magical powers while the red can heal light to moderate wounds.

Raybur Ravenloc
08-13-2005, 01:15 AM
Name: Raybur Ravenloc
Gender: Male
Race: Mirdain
Age: Middle-Aged

Favored Weapons: 5' Hunting Bow and 6' Quarterstaff
Favored Armor: Full suit of Steel Studded Mahirimskin Leather
Equipment: Wide-brimmed straw hat over leather cap; 4" dagger in each boot; 6" stiletto in each sleeve; 3" dirk under hat brim; 2' gladius, bola, flask of brown liquid, vial of yellow-green paste, small bag of dust, and small purse of various coins at belt; quiver of broadhead and bodkin arrows, forest green cloak, and satchel with assorted bandages, herbs, foodstuffs, and trinkets across shoulders; good-luck charm on mithril chain around neck.

Description: Short and heavy for a Mirdain, Raybur is 5' 8" and 160lbs. Among other Mirdain, he is looked at as almost a stranger, due to his human-like build, and a thick layer of hairs across his upper lip and chin, almost unheard of in pure-blooded Mirdain. In the way of Mirdain, he has smooth limbs hiding his wiry strength. Raybur also has a tendency to slouch, which lends him a falsly diminutive appearance. This appearance is aided by the loose cloak he wears with the hood back to reveal his long, straight, dark blonde hair falling just past his shoulders and his shining blue-green eyes.

Character Story: Raybur was raised by an aged Human poacher on the Human border of the Mirendil forests after his parents were killed in an Ork raid. By the time his mentor was caught by a band of Mirdain forest guardians, Raybur had already far surpassed him in the skills of stalking prey and eluding predators, as well as use of his hunting bow and assorted knives. Growing tired of the lonely life of a poacher, Raybur decided to join a band of mercenaries selling their services along the Human-Ork border. As a scout, Raybur quickly became feared by the Orks, who lost many officers and supply wagons to his swift strikes. During this time he also picked up the use of the quarterstaff, after deciding that trying to kill an Ork with a 2' blade was dangerous work. After a long while, Raybur again grew tired of his lifestyle, and left the mercenaries to become a roving thrill-seeker. In his travels, Raybur took jobs doing everything from assasination to bodyguarding, and even picked up his first and only spell, a breif incantation that creates a small spark up to a few yards away. This career as a thrill-seeker is what brings him here, to this tourny, a bit of gold and a bit of excitement...

Sorry about this, I didn't know this forums had a 20 minute edit cap. :ninja:
So here's my actual bio...

Feythus grew up as any simple human might. His Father was a blacksmith, and as such, Feythus was destined to be as well. He worked for Father while he apprenticed to him, he helped his Mother with chores around the house, he played with his baby brothers, and even courted a girl from a farm down the road. Life was as good as he could expect it. Fate, it seems however, is not always keen on allowing easy. So it was that as he walked down the road to the ranch owned by the father of the girl he believed he might one day marry, he had no idea of they events that would take place very soon and alter his life forever. He was heading to help with he harvest, and since the farm was located on a river, the harvest would be bountiful and abundant as it always was. This meant that her parents would assure Feythus stood to reap the spoils of his labor, and he also got to spend time with his girl. All in all, a good day was ahead of him.

He began work as soon as he arrived, his stature affording him the size needed to move the crops quickly. He worked through the day, accompanied by his love, and he couldn't be happier. After a couple hours, she excused herself so that she might bring him food. He smiled and nodded his head towards the house, and got back to work. As he bent over to retrieve a gathering of crops he had dropped, a glint of light touched his eye. It seemed to be coming from the lake, but it wasn't the water. The light was stronger and more steady, like something metal. Feythus raised his head and looked around the farm, and seeing that everyone had retired for lunch, he dropped the crops and moved down the bank towards the river. He reached the waters edge, and squinted his eyes, trying to make out the object. Whatever it was, it was huge. He stepped into the water, and shook visibly as the cold liquid lashed at his knees. He moved towards the object, and standing above it, gasped.

It was a sword, a huge sword, nearly 2 meters in length it looked, and it lay haphazardly across the rocks. He thrust his hand into the water, and pulled it out, and with two hands around the grip, held it in front of him. Despite its size, it was light, and as he swung it about, his mind racing with visions of orks raiders and alfar armies, he could not help but feel that he

In my post i believe i said that my character uses electromancy, but I want to change it to arcane magickl. I've had this character before but I forgot what his other form of war magick was so I just put in electromancy, but arcane magick is what it was originally and is in my opinion much more unique then electromancy. If Naithin or any of the competetors have a problem with this, send me a PM.

Excellent sign up progress so far, keep it coming. Will have sign ups open for another week or two, but be ready for combat to kick off right after that.

Mordakai
08-13-2005, 10:55 PM
Character Name: Mordakai
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Age: 34

Favoured Weapon: Ash Longbow
Favoured Armor: Padded Leather
Any additional equipment: (2) 1 handed Axes (see pic) - 1 full quiver of Armor Piercing Arrows (On back) - 1 half-quiver of Broadhead arrows (On Bow)
http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/7605/0600246d0007vo.jpg

Physical Description: Hieght: 5ft. 10in. Wieght: 195lbs. Mordakai has short, dirty blonde hair and silvery green eyes. His build is lean yet muscular and his posture
gives one the impression that he is highly agile. He may not be as fast as an Alfar, but he is light-footed and has quick reaction time. (see Signature image)

Character Story: Mordakai is a Ranger in every sense of the word. His entire life has been spent in self-exile from civilization and has revolved around living as one with nature. Much can be learned from the wild creatures of Agon, and Mordakai has studied their movements and adapted them as his own. Though he favors a longbow, he is equally adept at using hand axes if the fight gets too close. He found the members of Eleador as they ventured into his wilds, and was curious by their behavior. Most people defile nature and its bounty in order to increase their quality of living, but these Elear did not. They took what they needed, and took great care to replace what was lost in time. In time he came to them and offered his services if only to help ensure these people did not take more than what the forest could safely provide. He learned from them and taught them much about the nature order and balance of life. He heard about the Galdiator arena's and how men were pitted against one another for the entertainment of others. It reminded him of when people would capture wild animals and force them to fight each other for sport. While he hated the thought of such a sport, his human nature compelled him to see if his abilities could hold up against the battle hardened fighters that these arenas attract. Perhaps he may even be able to meet the people responsible for such an atrocity and put an end to such a thing. He hated to be such a hypocrit, wishing to test himself in such a way, yet condemning such things. He will probably never truly understand his human nature, sometimes he believes he is better off in self-exile.

This is subject to change, but seems the most likely close time at this stage.

So to be safe, apply before then! :D

Kito
08-23-2005, 06:05 AM
Character Name: Kito
Gender: Male
Race: Mirdain
Age: Late 20s

Favoured Weapon: Shade Blade. An invisible short sword that draws on the users spirit, its blur is fairly noticeable as it slices through the air.
Favoured Armor: Shade Cloak. A simple and serviceable garment, it offers little in the way of protection, but is excellent for hiding in the shadows.
Any additional equipment: None.
Magic: Kito's favored form of attack is magic. His specialty seems to be illusions and wind magic. His preference for these seems to come from their ability to AVOID combat, though.

Physical Description: Kito looks to be much older than he actually is. The only clue to his young age is his thick, dark brown hair. He is skinny and wiry, and is plagued with a perpetual cough that racks his body. His movements are fluid and subtle, however, and despite his cough he seems to appear and disappear without a trace. He is always dressed the same, with his pitch-black robe and red ribbon in his hair. Besides that, he seems to carry nothing.

Character Story: Kito's past is nothing he minds talking about. Born into a fisherman's family in a small island off the southeastern coast of the Mirdain lands, he left home against his father's will to travel the mainland. Shortly after he joined a small organization called the Shadow. Since then he has traveled throughout the lands, seeming to look for something, returning often to the forests of this home. His journey, it seems, has taken him back to the arena, this time to fight for himself.

((Edit: I would love to try a team match or anything else you can throw at us.))

Alright, signups are at a close.

Thanks to all those who entered, the initial team battles will start shortly, and there may be a number of team battle events. If you are in more than one event, don't worry, you may assume that the team battles in 'real' time are occuring at different times, so we aint breakin any paradox' there. :P

If we do have a general melee ffa.. Well, I may well take a swing in there myself.. ;)

Also, the team battles only time limit is that they will end when the deciding match of the tournament is ended; ie; when animus defends his title vs the champion of this set, when that battle ends, so will the team battles. So feel free to go crazy with them. The same rules of fight ettiquite apply, *try* to keep a firm a hold of fight flow and the appropriate realisms as you go, but the 'winner' of these team fights has absolute no bearing on the tournament as a whole, so don't worry too much about how they go.

Get ready all, the one on on fights will begin sometime during this week or next, so be prepared and on your toes. Will post the match-up's for round 1 soon.

Naithin

Alright guys, team battles have been decided. They will all take place in a standard open arena, there will be two events that each person who opted in to team events will be in.

First of all, a general open free for all Melee; the participants are:

Animus
Kito
Mordakai
Naithin
RavenLord
Raybur Ravenloc

This really is an open, anything goes match. (Anything goes as in nothin is considered too dirty or barred, but you still need to follow RP fight rules and at least be realistic; ie you can't teleport from one post to the next from one side of the arena to the other without some form of explanation.)

It will end when there is either only one man standing, or one man who has not yet conceded defeat. If you feel you are in mortal danger you may quit the battle, but this is an instant loss, even below those who are 'killed', as there are medic mages nearby able to restore the fallen.

The next event is a 3 way, 2 man per team melee. The teams are as follows:

Kito
Naithin

vs.

Animus
Mordakai

vs.

Raybur Ravenloc
RavenLord

Rules similar as above, no holds barred, last team standing or last team who has not yet conceded defeat and quit the battle.

Again, these matches will last the entirety of the tournament, they will not end until there is a new tournament champion! So lets co-ordinate within our teams - where applicable - and really get some good RP fights out of these. They don't mean /anything/ in the context of the Tournament itself, but it gives us all a way to keep on going, even if we're out of the tournament and to continue improving our skills as we go.

Actual match ups for the tournament round 1 will be presented shortly, and those fights will be underway within a week or so.

We've barely even begun on the team fights really, bear in mind they are going to run right until the end of the tournament itself.

I intend to post the first round match-up's tonight btw, I'm still including Kito at this stage.. But I have a feeling whomever gets him to fight against is likely to win by default. :/

Running for a long time you say? ...and Kyron has alredy difficulties with eaven standing! ...omg :)

Mordakai
09-03-2005, 12:28 AM
yeah I know!
I dont know if I can keep track of both group fights and my own personal matches...
Thats alot of hit/miss/damage/targets to remember for each post.
I already find myself scrolling back to the beginning posts to see who's hurt and what shape I am in.

But man this group fight is a blast.
And so far, its been fairly realistic... well... for a fantasy setting anyway.
hehe.

RavenLord
09-03-2005, 12:32 AM
Btw mord...that last post of yours in the team fights was evil!
I told you NOT to shoot two arrows at once, remember? I don

Mordakai
09-03-2005, 12:41 AM
hehe.
Atleast they were blind shots.
But at that range, dodging will be nearly impossible to do.

And unfortunetly Kyron and Nait are on the ground, so either Animus or Raybur will get nailed. I hope.
hehe.
Someones got to jack up Animus so I dont have to fight him later. I'm in nearly as bad shape as you are. Light-headed, blind and reduced movement from that arrow to the leg.

RavenLord
09-03-2005, 12:45 AM
...that

Raybur Ravenloc
09-03-2005, 02:02 AM
not me, but I will laugh myself to death if he shoots his own partner in the back with his last arrows
maybe even if he missed animus will turn back to kill him for the attempt :p

RavenLord
09-03-2005, 11:46 AM
Animus might just do that sort of thing...he actually makes these fights really interesting :)

Mordakai
09-03-2005, 04:32 PM
Well, looks like he is the only other person I could hit now that you deftly dodged all 4 :P
And I was wrong.
I am out of Arrows in the 'Other' group battle. This one I still have quite a few. I keep forgetting which fight I got my quiver cut loose in.
Oh well.
I'll be sending a few more your way once my vision clears.

Naithin
09-04-2005, 12:31 AM
:P How brave of you. But the match ups were random anyway, and here they are:

Tempest
Daetalion

Raybur Ravenloc
Cielwyn Meaglin

Kyron
Feythus

Mordakai
Kito

So unless Kito makes a miraculous recovery, it would seem that Mordakai has a no-show for his first round. We'll see, surprising things have been known to happen in this fight.

The arena fights themselves are not too far off now, but here are your matchups for round 1!

Mordakai
09-04-2005, 12:42 AM
Lucky me...
How will I know if Kito shows up? He can disappear at will and has an Invisible sword. Which by the way begs the question... how does he know he brought his invisible sword with him instead of just an empty sheath?
*shrug*

Raybur Ravenloc
09-04-2005, 12:55 AM
well, i guess he could feel for it, its when he cant remember which way he put it when he set it down on his desk the night before that really bothers him

well, i guess my match-up isnt so bad, im only up against a god...

or maybe MY match-up will be a no show too and I can pop over to exchange a few arrows with mord instead....

By the way, wheres Animus, he better get his butt on the forums, hes slowing everything up right in the middle of all the fun...

Sprite

You got no chance of me being a no-show. =]

Sprite
09-04-2005, 02:41 AM
I'm heading out for a couple days for vacation now, but if no one has any objections I'd like to join in and take Kito's place in the 2v2v2 when I return since he never showed up to it. And poor Naity is all alone!

Raybur Ravenloc

Kyron
Feythus...

If I remember correctly, Feythus wears a shiny Plate Armor and has a BIG FRIGGING SWORD!

Mordakai
09-05-2005, 08:41 PM
Yeah I know.
Makes it tough to be an Archer though.
But yeah, these fights are supposed to last.
And no one wants to die in the first post of their 1 on 1 either.

No biggy. Its the Roleplaying ability that gets counted most, and how much of a roleplayer could I be if I wasn't challenged outside of my area of expertise?

RavenLord
09-05-2005, 08:49 PM
Tougher than just standin in one place shooting arrows, yea :)
have you noticed me or raybur? ...we both have/had ranged skills (well...you can

Mordakai
09-05-2005, 09:00 PM
Yeah I think its fine.
And yes, I am somewhat crippled in one of the fights. The 2v2v2.
That gash on my leg cost me alot of blood, and I have been remaining almost completely stationary to keep from re-injuring it and making it bleed more.
Its clotted up pretty well now though, but any excessive movement will re-open it.

I just cant wait for the 1 on 1 fights to start.
I hope Kito Shows up. I got something for his Invisible Sword and vanish at will ability. :)

Solzibar
09-06-2005, 06:26 AM
Its a good thing the land Darkfall is in has no laws of gravity, or weight worries, or any general principles reality is based on.

Who needs realistic battles though right?

RavenLord
09-06-2005, 05:20 PM
it

Raybur Ravenloc
09-06-2005, 05:32 PM
i dont see any sarcasm there......

but seriously dude, if this isn't your thing then why are you here? reading it and posting complaints
its tough to keep a thing like this realistic when
A) its a magical world
B) you cant actually see whats going on, and have to make a lot of inferences
C) not everyone makes the same inference, causing dischord and confusion
D) its for fun, nobody wants to die in the first couple posts of a month long match

and i have no idea what you are talking about with the gravity and weight and all, i dont see anyone flying, and i am probably the most weighter character, with a staff, bow, short short sword, and assorted small objects, which might come out to what? 40 pounds at most? hell, the romans carried something like 80 pounds in battle. they didn't do as much quick manuevering as i am i suppose, but then i also have maybe half the weight, so i think its pretty realistic

as for the matrix moves, ya its a bit exaggerated, but it is possible in theory to get out of the way of an arrow at like 50 yards or so if you have exceptional reflexes, depending on the power of the bow and how far it was drawn. Arrows are not bullets, you can see them moving. That is why, militarily, archer units fired in large barrages, so that you couldn't pick out specific missiles that were coming for you and prepare. So just assume that all of these archery shots were from closer to 80 yards away and everyone here is used to watching out for threats and moving quickly.

and no i have never dodged an arrow, but i was once too slow at picking mine up out of the woods during some target shooting and managed to jump behind a tree between the time i heard the whistle to loose arrows and the time i heard and saw them flying around through the woods, they were about 50 yards from me with peice of crap wussy bows and theres was about a full second to move, but you get the idea

as for dodging swords and knives? ever been in a brawl? i can't imagine its much different, except that you would be more inclined to not get hit than make trade-offs (no experiences with swordfighting here, but i fought with sticks and baseball bats when i was a kid and dont have too many scars )

and the jumping ducking spinning in midair?
jumping attacks has sometimes been a part of swordfighting, thats why during some times knights only wore armor from the waist up, to allow them to leap over low sweeps of an enemy blade. perhaps we are stretching it a bit, jumping over heads, i guess we are all just michael jordan wannabees
dont see anything whatsoever wrong with ducking an attack, although i haven't seen anyone do it yet
spinning in mid air, im assuming u mean Naithins little trick. its a bit exxaggerated, but its not hard to jump and land facing the opposite direction, he just made it a bit advanced in jumping over someone and landing perfectly, maybe he was once a gymnast.. :D

Calm down Boys.
Solz just likes a little more realism in his RP.
I'm not entirely sure that he is talking completly about the current combatants either.
Daetalion is loaded down with a grocery cart full of mushrooms, potions, herbs, beetles, indestructible gloves and instant death orbs. hehe.
Its no big deal to me, just means I get to RP harder to make up for all the neat things I failed to bring with me.

Play your game your way.
Thats all that matters.

Characters Sheet
Character Name: Pork
Gender: Male
Race: Ork
Age: 12

Favoured weapon: Very large axe.
Favoured armor: Metal studded plate armor with enough range of movement to be able to move and attack fairly quickly. Most armor does not fit him very well.

Physical Description: A "big and beautiful" build. A bit on the heavy side. (see sig).

Character Story:
Pork is of a loving gentle nature unless he's angry. He was born to 2 loving parents in the mounds, who fed him quite well. He played with the slaves as a child and also shared his food with them, even though his own love of food was great. He often experiments with different cooking styles for his favorite food, the roasted flesh of the wild pig! As much as he loves the taste of pig, he also feels for the creature, as he himself has been viciously hunted at times in his life. Others in his extended family appreciate him as a chef.
Pork is a vicious killer in battle, who aims to do as much damage in as short a time as possible. He is fairly noble however, and will not attack unless unprovoked or in a frustrated rage.
Fear the massive gnarled Axes and other war-weapons that Pork carries into battle! Pork the Ork

lol, thats true
oh well, i just pointed out that (with most of us) its not quite as far fetched as he made it sound

It's as far fetched if not more, magical world or not. I have not responded to your half page response simply because I was asked not too, not because it changed my mind or put me in my place, if you will.

I know the physics of archery, I bow hunt quite regulary with a Kodiak Magnum recurve bow. The longest shot I have seen fired in the arena fight was 20 yards, at the backs of one or two people who, in the midst of fighting, somehow heard the arrow and dodged. Magical puff the magic dragon fairyland or not, ya cant tell me thats possible.

The weight issue im not going to bother with nor the dodging of thrown objects.

As for the aerial maneuvers, I've said my piece. I don't intend to pick apart others posts to prove a point.

Text based rp is very much my thing as those who know me can attest too, but forgoing any type of realism on the basis of extending the post or not dying cause its too early or its just a magical word simply cheapens the rp and its meaning. This is of course just the Opinion of one person, myself, and is why I did not enter in the first place.

Either way, in the end it matters little so who really cares right.

RavenLord
09-07-2005, 02:39 PM
Either way, in the end it matters little so who really cares right.
So why are you writing all this then? What

Raybur Ravenloc
09-07-2005, 07:20 PM
dont know where ya got the 20 yards, i haven't seen a reference to distance anywhere yet, but i could have missed it. ya if i thought i was only 20 yards away from the shooter id just take it, lol, i've been going on the assumption of around 50ish
and these aren't magnum recurve bows, lol, they all are probably much more antique, i dont know much about bows, but i hear modern bows are hardly even bows compared to old-school single piece bows

but anyways, you are right, its far-fetched, but no more so than anything you see on TV :p

it would probably be nice to play out a much more realistic match, i would enjoy it, and i'd probly be the first to die, but when the first posts i see involve dodging projectiles, im not going to be the only one hit...

i understand your opinion, and whoever told you not to post is... well, lets just say you should not have to suppress an opinion, let it all out :D

They're up folks! Go forth and enjoy your 1 vs 1s. Try keep these to the highest quality where you actually have an opponent, as these fights do matter, and will be judged as much on writing ability and coherence as anything else.

I suspect round 1 will have more than a few default wins, and round 2 will be where it really heats up. But we'll see.

As of this moment, the fights will run for 2 weeks from *now*, but if one opponent has not shown up at all for a week, they will be declared the loser.

I follow all the fights, and I take great pleasure in reading the posts. Most of you guys role-play beautifully... and that, in combination with strategic combat makes great reading!
Battle often brings out a different side of the person, and so this is also a way to get to know the combatants from alternating perspectives.

Yea, I'm loaded with all sorts of tricks and such, but that's how us sorcerors do things. BTW I should it make it clear that when I say my guantlets are indestructable, I don't mean that they can't be nicked or even bent(possibly even pirced), but they can only be melted down by magical means and the substance cannot be changed, no matter what form its in. The Spheres of marduk are also instruments, not weapons.
