I think what amazes me the most is the common problems that companies seem to face (ie account verification and client download) and the way the 'community' reacts (ie a mix of utter wankers to frustrated gamers).
So I am curious (and a little merry)
What .....

do YOU think is the best way to get a smooth launch?

do you think it has EVER been achieved?

and do you think that a smooth launch is worth a slightly higher monthly account/purchase fee to allow for the costs therein?

the smoothest launch i remember was WoW lmao... (though the vanguard launch itself was pretty good too)

The mass herds of sheeple are just nothing more then braindead idiots. When the slightest deviation occurs from their mindless routines they cry out, they cry out amongst the herd until someone who uses actual intelligence either beats or sooths the sheeple back into submission.

So your suggesting a group of dogs then to herd the sheeps ... I may know a few essex girls that fall into that category tbh.....

WoW launch was awful. they gave people a free month because it took them about that long to unbreak the game.

I couldn't play for 2 days after WoW launched, I don't call that very good. (and it was the european launch, so they had done it before)

AoC went smooth for me

One thing I think may have helped is letting people sign up for game accounts before the pre-order so there were not 30k people all trying to make game accounts at the same time... possibly not using capcha when the picture wont load because of server lag....

These are generic things of course that would make any launch better/smoother IMO

All in all nothing to complain about really its a pretty expected part of launches

No way I would pay extra money for a smooth launch. That's like going in for a hair cut and giving them extra money because they didn't whack your ear off.
