Darkfall reminds me of Age of Time, they're pretty similar infact except that Age of Time had more players around.

I can understand that, and I've mentioned repeatedly that the game definitely improves with a large group of people to play with. However, even that wears out quickly for someone who puts in a lot of time. I'm probably at around 300 hours played now, and rising, and the more I play the less I like the game. There are certainly groups of people (casual players and large group PVPers) who will enjoy the game, but for me personally it was a failure. Not just for failing to deliver what it promised, but because the game isn't designed for people with my playstyle. I've had my fun killing people, reported a few dozen bugs, done my best in testing... but this may be the first game I've seriously anticipated, and tested that I won't play post release.

It also doesn't help that I disagree with where the patches are going, it's been said before but I don't like the increased catering to the grinding/safezone crowd. Sure, on a realistic level the guard towers only annoy me slightly (You can still have someone who's blue go into guard tower range, invite someone to their party, and bring them to a spot away from the tower to ambush them), but I dislike what it says about the design philosophy that they're implementing something like this. As for the grinding... well, I'm not a fan of grinding either way, particularly this extremity of grinding. I'm spending more time macroing up magic now than anything else, since I want to test elemental before beta ends.

Of course... This is all ignoring the simple fact that even regardless of all that, the game flat out has problems. Armored casting only raises when you're naked and then ridiculously slowly (I'm at 16.1 after grinding LM up to 60 or so and GM up to 45.3), magic is useless in combat so far (I'm of the opinion it should be viable at the very latest by the time you hit GM), there are no useful active skills.... The list goes on. This game needs time, and I basically never play games after beta/release as I like things starting clean (I'm extremely competitive I'm afraid).

I get it. I said it would be fun for guilds. Like I said, I honestly think I am burnt out on gaming. Even in AoC, which for a slow-leveler like myself where I have TONS of content, and things to see, I am just fried.

I think raiding in EQ2 killed me. 3 fucking years of guild whining, and crying, and raiding. BLEAH. Fuck, the most fun I had was getting to kick people out, lol.

Spring is here, DF needs some more spit and polish, and I am laid-off for another month prolly. Treework won't pick up until March at any rate, so buying another game, and adding another sub to my account isn't gonna fly.

I don't see DF as a flop, but I DO want to see some tweaks. Couple tiny things that bug me to no end too, is Character Creation sucks HUGE dick, and the fact that we can't see our toons in a 360 camera spin kinda stinks.

I like a game where I can invest TIME into creating MY toon. I'm not an alt-aholic and I enjoy making the toon I will live with for a while. That's me though. Aside from that I love the PVP, again, needs work (more animations maybe...few at least) Running looks horrible, lol. I guess maybe they can fix that, but I'm thinking what we see, is what we get.

Landscape is great btw, looks top-notch.

Yeah, I'm serious about testing... Probably my favorite part of any given game, although Aventurine's complete lack of testing tools and dev interaction fucked it up.

Funny, I spent six hours casting wearing plate and didn't get even a .1 increase in armored casting. I reported it as a bug, but until you said that I assumed it was one everyone suffered from. Although I suppose it could've been fixed since then, I'll check later.
