My theory is a pretty simple one. I believe most MMORPG'ers are veterans. We've played it all. We are jaded because MMOs can never live up to our expectations anymore. Everyone has their good memories of fun times when they first started playing, but it seems (to me at least), that every new MMO seems to fall short and I can never seem to get that same excitement that I had before.....and when I just logged on to hang out, talk to friends, whatever, instead of grind, try to get the best gear, and etc. I think this theory will be overturned when people (me included) can get a game, and just enjoy logging on everyday to enjoy it and not try to do things the quickest or be the best. Darkfall is the answer to this, I hope, and believe.

I remember explaining to my parents and friends "yea I'm playing on the internet.. all those other players are other real people too..". There was still a freshness in the air early 2000 and onward. I think mmorpgs are popping up everywhere and people are just getting used to seeing them around. I remember when shoot-em-ups were getting a lot more popular then they faded out again. I think it's basically people use up all the excitement for a new genre or concept. Now everyone and their fking mother plays mmos and fps games.

As of late xbox and playstation seem to be taking the lead at stealing the attention of the next generation of gamers.
