Most gamers love to hate Blizzard but you have to at least admit they are successful. WoW is a carebear game but it's a good one, perhaps the best in that genre. I think if they put their minds to it they could create a stellar pvp mmo. What do you think?

*Edit: no no no there's two z's in blizzard

They are capable but they choose not to because they're making too much money from gear hungry carebears.

. . .. . First off diablo 3 isn't an MMO. Second off I don't think Diablo 3's focus is PvP.:bang:

well even though Diablo 3 isnt an mmo it still has alot of pvp (i think)because the last 2 games had pvp and they were the bomb

Diablo is the only reason i consider blizzard a good gaming company o.o

I get the feeling blizzard might be able to pull off a good sandbox game. They have WoW for the theme park customer base, there's no reason they'd change the game to cater to them - they just want to have every mmo player giving them money, and if they cater to the pvp niche it will work.

if they make it just like the prevouis games but with better graphics and more mobs, items, spells, classes etc. i think diablo 3 would be a really awsome game

Lets hope Diablo gets some depth to it this time, other than the well polished grind fest its been before.

I'm not so sure Blizz could make a PvP game to match WoW in the current market.

At release it would be a good PvP game. Then it would slowly become a PvE one catering for all the other people. That will give them the largest playerbase, the PvPers will stay and the PvErs will join!

Boring -.-

They should try making WoW: Death= Loss of ALL items even in bank.

I would still love hearing all those crys!
They should ofcourse dont say anything.... >.<

Blizzard is in the big money game. It's not profitable for a company like Blizzard with all their overhead to make a game which caters to an EvE sized audience. It really doesn't even make any sense for them to do it, because the sandbox pvp games don't compete with their cash cow for subs.

There has to be a demand for it. You and your buddies aren't sufficient enough.

Pity, since a different dev team is making Diablo 3 (This is fucking ancient news, I'm always shocked people don't remember the whole Blizzard North fiasco).

Anyways @Op, yes Blizzard could if they wanted to I suspect. Why? Because, it's looking increasingly like money is more important than talent in modern game design. Particularly as far as MMOs go, since they're so damned expensive. WoW was a terrible game, but it did exactly what it was intended to do, which is more than most MMOs can claim.

Yes, they are absolutely capable of it. But they won't do it until the market demands it (ie never)

wait a random point and click mindless grind makes a good game? gtfo really and go play an Asian mmo... at least those games have more to them then just point click attack move repeat

They're certainly capable of it.

But first they had to start off with an MMO so easy to play that any 5 or 60 year old could start playing it without any computer game experience, and see beneficial returns in the game itself.

Now that they have their fanbase, maybe they'll make something actually challenging?

None of the original developersof Diablo2 are working for Blizzard now so I don't know what to expect.

well is it that hard to code collision, friendly fire, city building, sieges and full loot? Hell I don't mind if they have servers with different looting rules. Even WoW would work with these things. Tarren Mill raids in the first year of WoW were fun. Defend the portal in front of MC and BWL was fun. I even enjoyed the battle for the reagents in felwood, WPL and EPL when Naxx (40) was launched.

For me Blizzard tend to need a game already in the market they can base what their making on, polish it up and then release a very good quality product thats nothing new but still good.

Pity, since a different dev team is making Diablo 3 (This is fucking ancient news, I'm always shocked people don't remember the whole Blizzard North fiasco).

I'm actually looking forward to this game more because off Leonard B as the lead designer, I'm very much hoping Diablo will have all the blizzard polish while getting some depth other than dungeon crawling, limited quests and a click fest grind. I enjoyed it but it you could play it with your brain firmly switched off.

are u kidding me!
diablo (1,2) had alot of depth in it u just had to pay attention but on the grinding part i kinda agree with u...

Sadly I'm not kidding you, there's about as much depth in Diablo games as there is in Dynasty Warriors, except Diablo had online play.

Dungeon Siege, Diablo, Throne of Darkness all following the same method off kill, loot, sell, continue on and repeat. What Blizzard accomplished is something they have done with their other games is make a simple concept well polished and somehow fun to play despite being nothing new. Throne of Darkness imo offered something like the same but again that was the same team behind Diablo too. Dungeon siege on the other despite being the same concept was almost as bad as the film.

If I wanted to play a Hack/Slash dungeon crawl I'd be much better playing Westwoods classic Eye of the Beholder at least that had the added aspect off being a a bit more tactical and requiring thought. Diablo is a good game just tends to get overrated in my eyes :D
