Yup. I fear England tbh. They have really gone nuts there. Better them than the US though. Good lesson for the rest to learn by. I doubt anything will change there.

Between the media and the government everything they do is presented in an "it'll stop the terrorists" way. Worryingly everyone just seems to nod their head and say I've got nothing to hide, without thinking anything through.

I can't see Labour having a chance in the next election, but don't think the Conservatives will be any better. Same shit, different logo.

George bush started all this "terrorism" catch phrase bullshit. He started the move towards an orwellian state.

There was ALWAYS terrorism. It's not new. Shit, planes were being hijacked in the 70's for christ sakes.

The problem is. HE used the terrorism mantra over and over and over again, like 911 was happening every fucking year! And that stupid fucking color chart, all to pass bills that would otherwise, be unheard of in clintons time.

Becuase if you fill people will fear, they will overlook everything, just as long as you reassure them, that your keeping them safe.

and it's not going to stop. Clinton's era was the last era of true freedom. Get used to it folks. It's only a matter of time before EVERY country starts doing it. And justifying it as "well everyone else is doing it too".

It's just the way it is.

I don't want to accept it, but what do we do?

Vote an "obama" in? That won't matter. The asshole will still keep pushing forward the "orwellian" agenda. meanwhile, creating slang words to make you go along with it. Becuase it's the catch phrase of the day. Everyone will accept it.

Once the word terrorism stops getting looks, they will invent some other catchy word that means teh same damn thing. As long as you pay attention, that's all that matters. Here folks watch teh fucking hand puppet on the right, while the left hand strips away your freedoms, you dumb assholes.

Our government just seems to ignore experts and other MPs when ever it comes to things related to "security". Im hoping for a change of government soon and maybe somebody can set it right again especially when they keep losing all this data their desperate to collect.

Change of government? Who to though? Lab and Con are as bad as each other, Lib Dems are a no hope and anyone is just laughable.

.

The thing is, i've never actually met anyone who was afraid of terrorism. It's so removed from most people's lives that they don't even give it a second thought. Unfortunately the same is true of politics and government legislation. People aren't so much accepting it because they're afraid. They are accepting it because they are apathetic and don't really know what to do about it. And that's just the minority who are even aware that it's happening

Yeah probably. But only a small amount of people would have seen that. So i guess New Yorkers would have a good reason to fear it. But over here in England we have experienced nothing on that kind of scale. We saw it on TV but it has nowhere near the same impact

You guys had the bombings in your Subways, which was pretty scary. England has a MASSIVE amount of Muslims there too, and they are petty free to do what they want it seems.

CCTV is good on SOME levels, but really, it's just a horrible idea. Just more Big Brother crap.

I would say Americans are LEARY as hell to Muslims. I know I am. I don;t care how much they say they love America. We know all too well how they can function perfectly well in society, and still plan to kill us 5 years later behind closed doors.

That's the biggest issue imo. Who knows what they have planned for anyone? Who knows what our Governments know, and aren't telling us for that matter.

I think people in England need to fight for thier rights a bit harder though. Get your guns back for one thing.

We never really had guns. Only hunting rifles. But what i'm saying is that nobody is going to fight. because very few people even see what's going on, and even fewer actually care enough to do something about it, I mean it's all very well saying fight. But how does one fight? I'm all for copying the French revolution and cutting the fucker's heads off. But that isn't gonna happen

Wow that's a big brush you've tared an entire religion with. I grew up in an area with a lot of muslims in, and went to school where the population was 50/50 english/pakistani. They're just the same as every other population, the majority just wanting to get on with their lives and a few nutjobs who have radical ideas. Both our countries have had their problems with homegrown bombers as well.

So then the rest of the world should always live in fear of whites as they have slaughtered more people than every other race. *cough* Nagaski and Hiroshima*cough* <----- That just scratches the surface.

So in conclusion, we should not use history to fear the future. We are all human beings and share 1 planet. Some of us are criminals and "evil", some of us are genuinly good and will try to leave the world a better place. Its up to the indivdual to decide....

I would say yes to that. You should fear the future also. Nothing is going to change anytime soon. Only worse imo.

I just call it like I see it. I see no outcry from the muslim community in the US. Never have really. It's great you know kiddies in school, but I know adults, and they're not very friendly imo. I don't trust ANYONE though. I hate people pretty equally.

A little mini America. We have nothing of this sort in the United States. I can walk down the street and it's illegal to have a camera pointing on the street to catch criminals or to watch me fondle myself while walking. I haven't had to give my DNA sample for anything except a paternity test.Yeah probably. But only a small amount of people would have seen that. So i guess New Yorkers would have a good reason to fear it. But over here in England we have experienced nothing on that kind of scale. We saw it on TV but it has nowhere near the same impactHere in Minnesota, of all places, a plane flying over was seriously terrifying people during and immediately after 9/11. Mind you, this is in Rice, Minnesota in a lumber mill and people were worried a plane was going to ram the faggoty little mill. Sure it was scary and America was actually terrified, but, much like a hill of ants, we became extremely pissed off. Now we either don't care and are focusing on domestic issues, or, participating in some vain political debate somewhere for/against the war in Iraq. Most people, though, don't give a shit anymore.Since I saw it falling I will tell you what I thought.

"Fuck that shit is flying way too low." That was about 2 seconds before it hit the water. You don't think when you see that you just stare.Everyone was losing their shit and saying it was an accident. I was a ninth grader and even I knew it was an attack. My social studies teacher asked why I thought that and I pointed out the 93 attack. Big discussion ensued. This kid said I was being crazy, and it turns out I was right. So fuck off, John Mitchell you fat fuck. HAHA!

Great power -> Great responsibility
Stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back into you.
"Oh fuck, cannot unsee!"
Etc.

Hearing a cry for help can not be unheard, and at that moment, both your action and inaction will completely fuck you over. Acting, and you risk yourself, but if you do not act you risk whoever is crying for help. In this way, anyone who places themselves in the position of being able to handle such huge swathes of information is just begging to be kicked in the balls by either someone else, or themselves.

I didn't read the entire thread but alas, I have mixed views on this matter.

I don't mind my DNA being taken and surveillance cameras covering public places. It doesn't force any change onto my daily life so I don't particularly give a fuck.

That said, I really hate British politics right now. All the major parties are shit, we need something decent. Most of our governments in recent times have been utter shit.

Great Britain used to be a respected and advanced country, but successions of governments changing shit and destroying stuff and letting Political Correctness and all that crap run rampant have near brought this country into the dirt.

It's sad.

Why not give in a DNA sample, all its going to do is sit in a database your whole life unless you commit a crime and leave samples all over the scene. Things like DNA databases can significantly reduce the time it takes to catch criminals.

In any case the main reason all of this gets put in place and noone argues is because all people do is read it in the papers, raise thier eyebrows and then turn the page and forget it. Very few people in this country are passionate or even interested in politics, probably because regardless of whose elected nothing usefull will be done, just more "career advancing" poorly thought out ideas.

This country's in a sad state and it's going to get worse before it gets better.
