I recently reformatted my PC from vista back to XP and now my computer won't recognize these (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v161/tefteller/DT.jpg) devices

luckily i had a wireless network adapter and CD lying around to access the internet with. My ethernet is still plugged in though and I would rather use that...problem is I don't ever remember using a CD to install drivers for it. Vista always recognised everything that has a question mark in the above screen shot.

What can I do?

Okay, here is some thing to remember for all of you out there.

if you do not have all your driver cd's, floppies ect.

Use this program before a format. It's called drivermax. And it's free. It copies every driver that is on your workstaiton. To a small (less than 10 meg) folder to a place of your choosing (put it on cd or something and label it drivers).

the program is VERY good.

When you do your format. Reinstall drivermax and then pull those drivers from the CD you made. BAM, no need to ever worry about drivers again.

PS. get acronis with universal restore. Make an emergency back end on your computer. Which if your computer hoses, you just have to reboot and hit f11 to restore your pc.
And make a backup image that you would put to DVD. That way, with universal restore, you can restore ANY computer with your universal restored image.

I have copied a SQL server, that was running on a raid 5, with scsi drives. And restored it to an entirely different server running raid 0 and 5, sata drives! Universal restore is that good.

Yeah..you need those drivers. You'll need your driver cd's your PC came with, or try what big said. Should be an easy fix. I got your message Salt, but I am pretty nooby with this stuff. I have had this issue before though.

Those look like drivers that come with your Motherboard CD, find your MB manufacturer and look for the latest drivers.

Or go to google

Look on your ethernet card. There should be a sn or s/n or partnumber on it

if the part number is for example as345v3

then put that in google like this -> as345v3 driver download <-

If you can open the case or peer into it, try to find the full item name should be near your ram in bold P5E..... If it is onboard Ethernet he will need the Asus version.

It's even more worth it to learn how to make vista work well.

But I was going to say if you had a prebuilt computer a lot of them don't have drivers for XP at all, so glad you got it to work. Good luck.

When you can't find your motherboard cd...
Install Sisoft Sandra or Everest, then you should see the real name of the devices like "Realtek E48378393 Ethernet card" then google, download , install and have fun.
