View Full Version : Gaming: I have never played WoW. Am I the only one?

I'm curious to find out if there's anyone else that refused to pick it up. I took one look at the cartoonish graphics and decided that it wasn't for me.

Are there others who have never touched the game?

I never played it either. Was beta testing GW and continued to play when it released like 4 months after WoW.

I've never played it either, if you exclude my few rather well-geared level 70's.

I escaped in the end though.

I basically haven't played it either I bought 2 month subscription and quit on my first month trial after 5 hours. It wasn't for me, MMO's arn't meant for playing alone and I just didn't enjoy playing alone and not knowing anyone.

Played it on a fun server and it SUCKED. Especially the graphics almost made me puke, it's just so annoying. :ninja:

I played the trial when Starwars galaxies broke itself, but I just couldn't live with the lack of any depth to the crafting. So I went back to my real life, which only slightly better than either of the two games.

Nope never played it. It never once held any interest for me, even back when they announced it.

My neighbour got all into it at one point but I would usually just laugh at him. :p His frriend got his account hacked and lost everything, then he went into big time depression. I thought that was funny too. Getting upset at being hacked is one thing, to get depressed about it tells you that you need to step back.

Or he could just play the games he actually finds fun?

Played but it bored me such a simple minded game I played in my sleep. I find it odd most people can't play those themepark games in their sleep while grinding. I even played FF9 way back when it came out and fell asleep woke up and I was at the end. Same for Leagend of the dragoon. but i loved those 2 console games.

WoW was a nice experience.

Not the best MMO ever, but its polish made grinding tolerable.

Now that I think about it, I don't know which one I liked more, the game, or chatting with my friends in the game?

WoW certainly fits under the glorified chat client category.

WoW is a great game. Whether you like it or not, it is still a good, successful game. It is much more geared towards pve though, unfortunately. I used to play WoW, but sold my account for cashmoneys.

You aren't allowed to even acknowledge you have played WoW on these forums. It makes you a carebear, how dare you play a game which you may have found enjoyable.

Though, I dont regret playing.

It helped me determine what I do, and dont like about MMO's

UO spoiled me and I quickly determined freedom and risk are important to me

Loly

Two possible scenarios here.

1. Theres a few people here who have legitimately never played it and the rest are to much of a pussy to admit for fear of being called a carebear.

2. Same as above but the majority are all on the Hate-WoW bandwagon.

I concur.

Fuck you.

And yes I played WoW for a year. It was fun.

No it doesn't. He invested a lot of time and money into the game and lost it all, you'd probably be depressed to. It would be like getting your identity stolen. Or someone using your credit card. Or getting fired from a job you really enjoy.

When I played, the only time I chatted was when I made people think I was hacking them in trade chat (using spaces to make it seem like they typed something they didn't).

The only reason I quit was because I couldn't find any people I really liked to play with. If I had found someone to play/quest with, I would probably still be playing now.

i played an enhancement shaman at launch and kept it as my only character (got a hand of rag woooo!~) all the way up until a month before lich king came out and decided that enough was enough. I think I had over 150k lifetime pvp kills. Fun times but it got stale and I had to move on.

Never even considered it. I absolutely hated the Warcraft RTS' games...the last thing I wanted was to play in a world based on them.

Now...if it had been World of Starcraft...I'd probably be raiding right now.

Despite the haters, you missed out on a good game. And passing on something for 'cartoonish' graphics is a joke. 'Realistic' based graphics like those found in Everquest 2 for instance look ridiculous. The stylized art found in WoW is really great due to the consistency of it and what they can accomplish with it. Judging the game on a few still shots of someone posing in some crazy looking gear doesn't do the game any justice.

But whatever, you're 'cool' for not trying something. Want a cookie?

Wow, while a silly grind when you try and make it your life, is still a fun game taken in normal human doses. The only people that hate on it:

1. Sought to dedicate their lives to it and then started crying when each successive expansion made the item 'X' they strove for for 9 months or something absurd meaningless.

2. Took the game too seriously and couldn't stand balance changes to their class.

3. Think it's cool to hate on something they have never tried because they feel that's a unique and awesome approach to life.

I love how everyone talks about 'cartoony' graphics as if they know what they're on about.

Thing is, a lot of these idiots wouldn't know cartoon graphics if it came around and slapped their dicks across their faces.

There's a difference between shitty low-poly art and actual cartoon style art you know.

And if you've never played WoW OP consider yourself extremely lucky.

played it, liked it, played it some more, liked it for few months, got bored, quit.
repeated that about 4 more times over 2-3 years. Tried EvE, tried WAR, got bored of those.
I like WoW, mainly since I was lucky enough to hang around good people (thus making it last longer then it should have) but like with all games you get bored in the end. I did hate how you could never have any price for what you do, so I came here.
