Okay I find it far too hard to name my favourite song, I have too many.

So, ladies and gentlemen, and trolls of all ages, I present to you... What's your favourite cover song.

Mine is Rasputin by Turisas, the original was by Boney M.

Lol, glad it's a short one :p

Edit: I have to say I prefer the original, it was more spaced out back then.

most of them are just covers of other songs... they love to take parts of other rap songs like lines or versus and just put them in their song with different beats. i personally dont like rap in any form... most of it is the over used, unoriginal, and extremely repetitive shit.

Yup, most of it is but theres still some thats alright. I know he's very mainstream but Eminem is actually one of the most inventive and original rap artists ever. Also probably the best songwriter of our generation aswell.

That said, rap really isn't my thing (apart from Cypress Hill in my teenage 'smoking funny things' years). But the reason most of it is covers is because it's synonymous with DJ turntable music which is all sampled.

Did you know that the New Order version was also a cover? Don't ask me which band though.

Edit: thats it! I'm getting an orgy album for just this song lol

theres that word again

SAMPLED

I can't respect the rap community because they do this so much.

Don't get me wrong, this also happens in the rock world too (coldplay vs Satriani) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvB9Pj9Znsw)

BUT, rap does it SOOO MUCH that its gotten out of control. Correct me if I'm wrong but every Kanye West hit contains samples, which is pathetic.

As far as my favorite legit cover goes I think it would have to be Clutch - Gravel Road (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6BrNb-_a2E) (ignore the visuals)

yeah that is why i said most. because clearly not all performers and song writers are this way. its mostly the mainstream rap and r&b scene. tere seems to be a trend with underground rap being anti-government though and talking about conspiracy. they still talk about the same old bitches, hos, and money, and dont forget their hard upbringing and growing up on the streets though.

The Turisas cover is pretty good. I saw them live in Gothenburg a few years ago, and they played it as the last song :P

My favourite covers must include:

Sodom - Surfin' Bird (Trashmen)
Death - Painkiller (Judas Priest)
Hammerfall - Back to Back (Pretty Maids)
Manowar - Nessun Dorma (Luciano Pavarotti)

Yeh I'd never heard of them when I saw them, so the Rasputin cover took me completely by surprise. Absolutely loved it.
