Please, don't turn this thread in a flame/troll/fanboy "war".
With or without NDA, just like many of you I formed an opinion about the state of the game as it is right now in closed beta. My no. 1 concern is the UI and I hope it will get worked on in time for release.
Aventurine, if anyone over there is reading this, please consider releasing the game on the 25th, as promised. Just focus on having the core elements of the game ready and add the buggy or incomplete features later on. Consider what your fan base is made of. You have hardcore players that will be in game 8-16 hours/day (a minority) and the bulk of the people that want to get in that will spend 2-4h/day or even less.
If you release with the core features, most of the players will be satisfied as you will have months until the play enough time to bother about stuff like ships or cities or whatever. They (me included) will have sufficient fun in pvp, pve and crafting. The hardcore players will most likely focus on PvP and be content to wait a bit. Even if they might scream that this or that feature is not "in" yet, they will not leave.
Now consider what happens if you delay again. As I am reading these forums, most people, are just waiting for this game. They don't play anything else, or if they do, they do it knowing that in 2-3 weeks they will be able to preorder and get in Darkfall. If you delay again, these people (me included) will not abandon Darkfall but their "hype level" will go down a lot.
I put up a poll to see how many people would want a release with core features now, or wait another X months for a release with all features. I think this poll is not useless since it can tell you how to wrap up the beta testing. Perhaps abandon some stuff and leave it post-release and focus on core stuff to have it ready in time.

I think that they should finish everything and get it perfect for the launch. But I think that this will be done for the 25th. About the UI, in the last update it was mentioned that the UI had been reworked and restyled, so I'm sure it looks good now.

well the way i see it ppl will still be content with the core features as long as its full map noone will get bored. only ppl i see getting annoyed are big clans and crafters. crafters cause they might not be able to do everything and clans cause the citys wont be as good.

shouldnt there be an option for 25th release with promised features?
they have to release it in 25 feb. with core features. MMO need time to set up right, dfo fanboy, with maybe free trial bonus, will be great help to make things definitely rights.

The best they can do on 25th February! That's obvious! They can add more features and improve Darkfall with some patches during the following weeks. Where's the problem with that?

Yep, that is exactly what i am thinking, too. Please not another game, with reduced features at the start.

Improving the game costs money and if Aventurine has only a limited capacity for players they will get less money.

Already some features have been postponed for after-release.
For example, prestige classes. There is a dev quote for this, just cant be bothered looking for it.

They need to release the game.
If it doesn't release now, it never will.
In all these years they have made 0 money, do you honestly believe the bank is going to say, here have some more money?:lmao:
If it doesn't release on the 25th or a couple of days after.....money does not come out of thin air.

shouldnt there be an option for 25th release with promised features?
I left out that option because it breaks the purpose of this thread. I started with the presumption that there is a dilemma in the minds of the devs.
I made this poll specifically to give them an insight of what the community might want if it comes to choose between a release with core features and full features with later release.

Core features are priority. I wouldnt mind to much if they patch in some of the lesser stuff over the next few weeks, but i'd prefer they get as much done as possible.

Everyone who is asking for the game to be released on the 25th February as a very unfinished product is doing nothing but harm to Aventurine.
They release - everyone races out to buy it - and then all hell breaks loose as people ask 'what the fuck is this?'
On one side you will have the fanboi-for-life types telling people to stfu, go back to wow, give them time to patch, learn to play (l2p) and many other helpful suggestions.
And on the other side you will have people who want a finished product, people who have come across from other games, and even people new to the mmo genre, raising very valid points about the game not being ready for release.
The resulting forum war will be amusing i admit, but it will be disastrous for Aventurine, because once someone leaves an MMO in disgust they 99.9% of the time WILL NOT come back.

Release with core features.
They can update whilst i'm playing the game. As long as it's not as bad as AoC which had next to no features, people will keep playing.

What has this thread, or my post for that matter got to do with mortal online?

I vote for delay and release with the core features properly tested and tweaked.
Ofc if they feel confident and ready to go, good for them.
But I'd hate for well thought game to fail due to poor or partial implementation :bang:

I want to play Darkfall so bad that I would love for them to go ahead and release on the 25th, but on the flip side I see the obvious consequences for doing so if all the features aren't finished.

I say release it with the core and then just have major patches.

I think they will have everything on and working by the 25th. There will still be bugs and things that will get changed after the 25th. But, there will be a game with all the features listed except for the ones they have already said would be put in at a later date.

Personally I would rather play the game with just the most important features instead of waiting. That is probably not optimal for the game to succeed among a broader player base. But that's supposedly not the purpose with this game anyway. ;)

Not meaning to be a troll... but if you actually read the forums once every other day, you actually see how repetitive this forum is. It makes sense why the dev's don't tell us things... Half the fan base turn to whining and just making stupid repetitive posts. I am also guilty of all these things... I was just making a simple observation.

I think you need a 3rd option for "wait a few more months."
From what I've read/seen this game looks really fun, but it also doesn't look like it's ready for prime time. Everyone is saying it "will look better once the features are all turned on." And while that may be true, shouldn't these features get more than a couple of weeks worth of testing?
Turn all of the features on, test them for a couple of months with some more testers, end with a giant stress test, then release the game.
If you truly love the game, you should have the patience to let them finish it instead of getting them to rush it.

It's niche, but that doesn't mean they don't want it to succeed with as many people as it can. Why settle for mediocrity when you have the potential for greatness?
