Its no secret that Americans waste more than any other culture on the planet. Native American indians wasted about 2% of every animal they killed. Nothing went to waste. We're a picky bunch that has been hard wired into thinking that if its not from 'this part or this part' then its not edible.
Think of all of the things that are on your average head of cattle or pig etc that the average american wouldn't dare touch, yet is completely palatable and edible. head cheese, tounge, brain, chitlins, haggis, tripe and the list goes on.

I just hate to see people having their brains beaten into thinking that these types of things are gross, when in fact people around the world enjoy them everyday.

This was proven to be fallacy a lot of the time. One Native American hunting technique, used by many tribes was to drive as many buffalo over a cliff as they could, what they could not carry away was left to rot in the sun.

And just because poor people can't afford anything better doesn't mean it's good to eat it, "soul food" is a perfect example. It's history starts in slave colonies where slaves were given the left over and shitty parts of the animals to eat. Soul food didn't come about because it was tasty, it came about because that's all they got to eat.
