View Full Version : Whats a Moderator For?

For the most part i just read these forums. But i finally have to ask. Does a moderator position here hold any responsibility at all? I have read the disclaimer statements in moderator sigs about how they are not Adventurine employee's etc, etc. But still i see very little if any effort made by any of them. In fact half the thread locks i see are bias and based on poor judgment. Most threads are repeated on a daily basis and yet there's no lock or warnings for doing so.
I sure would like to have moderators make a stand of some sort. Even if there will be no real worth while outcome at least they could claim to have tried to do a good job.
Anyways, IBTL game on...

Maybe this is obvious...
mods moderate the forums such that it follows the terms of service
They arent supposed to be forum nazis who control everything that is posted. Also, some of them are cool peoples :)

(Most threads are repeated on a daily basis and yet there's no lock): REply: You didnt read the rules wel i think. If you make a thread, make sure there are no active thread with the same name that you will make before make an other. You have nothing to argue.
Anyway, we all know that moderators are in the beta so that is an other reason, and i think brannoc didnt got connect then again in a long time because he didnt even make the news about part 8 is up.

They closed a couple of my threads.
Yep, from the looks of your threads, they either offered nothing in substance or the info you asked for could have quite easily been found by searching.
Only 1 of your threads was closed that I see. (http://forums.darkfallonline.com/search.php?searchid=2262066)

Thread will be closed and you will be infracted for discussing moderator action outside of PMs. Newbie mods are tightasses but they chill out as time goes on.

Our general sense of moderation is to moderate as little as possible. This isn't the kind of iron fisted corporate board that you may be used to. The mods here are all members of the community, and are all volunteers. We volunteer because we genuinely like the community and want to see it prosper. (Read: I hate you all... DIAF!)
It's kind of a fine line to walk between loose moderation and total anarchy. Sometimes we have to crack down on things as posters get out of hand, but in general, we'd like to leave you guys to your own devices.
As to the lack of warnings and such, I have to say that we expect you to read, and understand, the Terms of Service. If you do this there really isn't anything that should be a surprise to you.

This is a refreshing forum where Off Topic is actually off fucking topic. There isn't hand holding, coddling, and heavy handed moderation.
That's why it's successful, because it's not some fucking wet nurse bay like every other spot on the internet.
Get the sand out of your vagina and enjoy yourself.
